You shouldn't try doing both at the same time I'd say. Most people say smoking helps them keep thinner, so stopping and trying to lose weight at the same time is very difficult. I suggest stop smoking and start exercising first. If after 3-6 months you are cured of your addiction to smoking then you can worry about trying to lose weight. For the time being though quit smoking and exercise for at least 30 minutes 4-5 days a week, this can be as simple as continuously walking for 30-minutes prior to dinner. Exercise will help take your mind off your desire to smoke and help rebuild your lungs/heart that were damaged by the smoke. You may want to invest in plenty of sugar free gum, low-sodium pretzels and fresh crisp veggies to munch on throughout the day when you get your cravings to smoke. Also, 1-2 cups of green tea per day will sooth you and may help your metabolism.
