Here is your serious answer!
I am an Atheist and I really enjoy being here. I am open minded and enjoy talking to others about their beliefs. I enjoy a good debate, as long as all parties don't get nasty.
I don't believe in 'Religion' but I DO believe in 'Spirituality'.
Spirituality does not necessarily include religion. For me, spirituality encompasses things that are 'felt' or experienced yet unseen and unexplained. I have had some pretty perculiar experiences, which to me are in no way linked to a deity. The spiritual side of my life is very important to me, who I am and my ethics and principles.
Also, I was a Christian for 17 years and still have an understanding of Christian beliefs, and a knowlege of the Bible, so I am able to answer some questions on those issues.
I hate the fact that some Atheists just come here to rant and push their own agendas. Some of them are very rude and close minded. But you must admitt, there are a few Christins in this forum that act much the same.
I enjoy myself here, and like to help others and explain things...like explaining to you, why I, an Atheist, am here ;P
Regards,
The Peaceful Atheist

I think they want to stir up as big an argument that they can find, some may be searching for answers and will eventually be saved if they live long enough. I dont know all the reasons they have but there are many.

Most atheists see religion to be causing great harm to our world. It's not that hard to see in the world around you. We don't prefer one belief over another, we don't agree with any of them.
I think most of us atheists wouldn't worry too much about religion if they would not continually fight among themselves and inject their beliefs into politics.

Here you can wind a religious person up and watch them run into the wall repeatedly all day.. While it's very easy to do the results are often spectacular.. It's those fireworks I come for when a religious person finally explodes :)
In other sections I have visited the people are not as predictable and easily wound up.. :(

Atheists are some of the most spiritual people on the planet. One doesn't have to belong to a religious group to discuss the TOPICS of RELIGION and SPIRITUALITY.

I came here to look for serious answers.
The serious answer i got was only "FAITH".
I end up concluding monotheism as "Faith Based Religion".
Oh i hang around here, because very entertaining.
People here don't know what they are talking, however they assumed they are RIGHT and people know are WRONG.
Is not a BIG JOKE for you ?

Yahoo has a search feature you know (there should be around 3 copies of this question for every day Yahoo Answers has been around)... I've personally given it full answers around 50 times now, so I've hit my limit.

Seriously,
honestly...
I don't know.
But I think it's the same reason why prissy girls listen to crap like Howard Stern just so they can tell everyone how much they hate him.

It may be a way for them to try to justify their views. If they defend their position for long enough it starts to feel more authentic to them perhaps. Ignorance is bliss, aint it?
