It's strange, in America if you tell someone you're a Buddhist, Hindu, Wikkan, or Satanist, they laugh at your naive beliefs, why are these religions shunned while others (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) aren't?

Religion is really a business, a highly competitive business. In America, some businesses do better than others.

At some point in life, all religions have been treated unfairly...and people in all different religions have treated others unfairly. With that said, however--

This is because some religions teach that any other religions are evil. Some people actually believe that their religion is the only right one, and will never listen to others and give them the "benefit of the doubt".

People are not taught tolerance in some instances, and it's unfortunate. Legitimate beliefs are ignored, and people ridiculed because they won't join the crowd and just believe for themselves. Many people want individuals to join them instead of being Wiccan/etc. in peace. Some people are also simply afraid of some things that they do not know. And some people are just raised to hate anyone different.

As lesser seen religions, we already know to accept others how they are, because we know just how hard it is when no one will accept you as you are. I don't care what your beliefs are, you have a right to believe. I'm happy as long as people don't insult my beliefs or preach and try to convert me.

It is sad that in this day and age people still can't be tolerant, accepting, and respectful of other religions, races, and cultures.

Actually, Islam is made fun of a lot. I am a Muslim and at least every week I get the middle finger or called a terrorist and I am just a normal teenager. It's pathetic how many people are not educated and don't know the truth. But I guess this is just a part of life. It's a struggle to act calm when you get made fun of because of what you believe however there will be a day when everyone is questioned on their actions.

I think it is difficult because mny of the religions have parts to them which refutations of the others. I have friends in many of the groups you are discussing here. But I find that here especially there is a basic disrepect for everyone's belief. However you will also find in the groupsyou felt were the ones that were not being treated as equal comments which are highly negative of the other groups. In one book I read by someone puporting himself as a high ranking Hindu he explained that Jesus was merely another carnation of Budha (as were other religious leaders) sent to confuse people so that they would not find the right path to "heaven"

I respect other religions. Wikkans and satanists... no I do not classify those as religions/ but Buddhists and Hindus actually are respectable religions. I do not associate in learning about them because it is against my religion but I guess there are a lot of people who can relate.

It depends who you tell. I'll admit that my prejudice is to imagine Buddhists and Wiccans are going to be cooler people on the whole than Christians and Muslims. Of course there are exceptions. I think personality trumps everything; if people are 'holes by nature, they'll find a way to make their Christianity or their atheism or whatever reflect that; likewise if they're actually cool.

Its a matter of being open minded. People that are convinced that their way is the only way are just ignorant. I accept whatever people are and appreciate that they have conviction in their beliefs. More people should and the world would be a much better place.

I wish I knew the answer. My guess is it that many people tend to associate anyone who looks and behaves differently with illegal or immoral activity. It is sad. I can't say that I never do this, but I try my best NOT to do this. As long as somebody doesn't harm anyone else, they are fine by me.

Are you aware that outside of the U.S.A., protestant Christians are hated and not accepted almost throughout all the world? In parts of Asia, Africa, and the middle east, they aren't even allowed to speak of their beliefs in public. The fighting in the Sudan right now is Muslims killing Christians so they can get Sharia law.
