I know from first hand experience how wicked a thing depression can be. Clinical depression can alter your personality and play some very bad tricks on you mind. As "rational" people we can not understand how someone could kill thier own child. Chris however, could not have been rational. I cannot imagine the thoughts that were going on inside his head his last few days on this earth. What he did was unexceptable to us "normal" folks. I speak from experience. 5 years ago, my husband became so depressed that out of fear for the lives of my children and myself, I took our kids and left. 1 month later he hanged himself. The lead detective told me that he had no doubt, if we wouldn't have left, we would ALL be dead. I never felt angry at him because
he was living in a self-imposed hell and to say that he was miserable would be very much an under statement. We can only judge people while they are on this earth, let God judge Chris now. He understands a lot more than we do. RIP Benoits

We have no right to judge anyone, regardless of your belief system. What happened there was a shock, and it was sad, and probably totally unnecessary. We don't know what was going through his mind when he did what he did, we can't even imagine. We don't even know that it's linked to depression - I've read repeated accounts that it was steroid use. All I really know is, it was a horrible thing, no matter the reason why.
Either way, you contradicted yourself. Your question asks how can we judge, then you say we can only judge people while they're on earth. So, which is it?

Clearly the guy was sick, so was the guy at Virginia Tech but ultimately you are responsible for your actions and it does not matter the excuse because the result of what they did was devastating. No one has judged anybody, it is a sad situation and it always bad when things have to turn out that way.

I loved Chris Benoit, I do not judge him, I pray for him and his family. No one should pass judgment on anyone else living or not it is not our place, God is a merciful God and knows us better than we know ourselves. No one here has walked a mile in his shoes, nor do they know him well enough to say anything about him. This is a very tragic event and they should be left to rest in peace.
May God show him mercy and compassion.

I had never heard of Chris Benoit until this all hit the news. I am sad that he felt the need to take his whole family with him. Suicide is terrible enough.
He strangled his wife and smothered his son and left Bibles near their bodies. Now, that he's dead, there's only One to judge him since he was too much of a coward to turn himself in.

Who's judging him? I certainly haven't. I was quite disappointed when I heard that he murdered his wife and little boy, though. That was inexcuseable. Whatever his emotional state, if he knew that suicide was etched in stone concerning himself, he should've left his wife and little boy out of it. I hardly equate these comments with judging him. I'm certain there's millions of people who feel the same way I do about the whole thing.

Judging another with condemnation is not our place. But judging another by the fruit of their life is a scriptural duty for every Christian. By all reports, Mr. Benoit killed three people.
"Thou shalt not kill, unless you're really, really, REALLY, really depressed." In which case, you'll get a "pass?"
I have empathy for Chris in his depression.
I have no sympathy for him since he did not bother to equip himself emotionally to handle it in a healthy way.
