The myth of Aztlan can best be explained by California's Santa Barbara School District's Chicano Studies textbook, "The Mexican American Heritage" by East Los Angeles high school teacher Carlos Jimenez. On page 84 there is a redrawn map of Mexico and the United States, showing Mexico with a full one-third more territory, all of it taken back from the United States. On page 107, it says "Latinos are now realizing that the power to control Aztlan may once again be in their hands."

Shown are the "repatriated" eight or nine states including Colorado, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon and parts of Washington. According to the school text, Mexico is supposed to regain these territories as they rightly belong to the "mythical" homeland of Aztlan. On page 86, it says "...a free-trade agreement...promises...if Mexico is to allow the U.S. to invest in Mexico...then Mexico should...be allowed to freely export...Mexican labor. Obviously this would mean a re-evaluation of the border between the two countries as we know it today." Jimenez's Aztlan myth is further amplified at MEChA club meetings held at Santa Barbara Public Schools..

The book, paid for by American tax payers, cites no references or footnotes, leaving school children totally dependent on their teacher to separate fact from opinion and political propaganda. The book teaches separatism, victimization, nationalism, completely lacks patriotism towards the United States, and promotes an open border policy. The book is 100 percent editorial -- the opinions of the author.

yeah so, did you know that Mexico seceded this territory to the united states in the treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo?

This just proves to you how dumb the illegal aliens-- wait criminals -- are.

Mexico was once part of spain and The United States was once part of brittain along with India, canada, australia, some of africa, and many other countries. Not too mention the territories owned by the french.

The point is that the illegals want to be in america not mexico. If the southwest was still part of mexico, the illegals would simply jump the new fence because california, new mexico, arizona, texas, and nevada would be as bad and corrupt as mexico.

So either way, we'll still have illegals.

The illegals should recognize that they are illegal and just leave.

You're absolutely right...they sure were.
And all the illegal immigrants should thank God that those states are now part of the U.S.
If those states were still part of Mexico, they would have the same FAILED economy that the illegal immigrants' culture has created in Mexico today. And instead of sneaking into Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and California to pick grapes...they'd have to sneak all the way up to Utah and Oregon.

Do you know that these are states?? You want to live in Mexico then live there and quit worrying about the states. Do you know there also used to be a USSR over in Asia? There is no more USSR. The goodies won, the badies lost. That is just the way it is!!

Yea I learned that in 4th grade I think. I also remember a war where Mexico got its rear end handed to it in a paper bag and the United States gained control of the area when Mexico begged for peace.

Yes, and I've been informed of it at least 1000 times here on Yahoo Answers in the past year. But that still does not make me an illegal. I was born here in Texas, and Texas is still a part of The United States, at least for now....

Most of the south west states were once part of Mexico until Mexico sold or lost them to the U.S. due to war

This is a fact of history. What does it have to do with today?

We won't give up our sovereign states. Ever.

América pertenece a los ciudadanos de los estados

Los Estados Unidos son indivisibles

No nos entregaremos a los invasores

Los americanos defenderán su tierra con sangre

Nuestra tierra permanecerá en nuestras manos

Duh, you think you're educating anyone here? Yeah, I found that out in elementary school. What's your point? Let me guess, that means that Mexicans aren't illegals right? WRONG, when those states were taken over by the US there were Mexicans here that were given the choice of becoming US citizens or moving back to Mexico. That issue was dealt with Loooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnng ago. The illegals coming here now were never thrown out of the US, they came here illegally Looooooooooooonnnnnnnng after the fact.
