When my dog sleeps he twitches, which I know is normal. But at night when everybody is in bed sleeping he goes to sleep too. But he howls in his sleep. Really loud. I was wondering if that is normal....?

Yes it is normal. Some dogs do it more than others. Puppies seem to do it a lot! I also noticed that it depends what kind of a day my dogs have had. It seems like when they have had a really exciting day, they do that a lot. Like they are having a really active dreams.

That is extremely normal because all dogs have dreams as well as nightmares they are also very sensitive. Every little sound will provoke them to make a noise or to react.
--the first day i got my Yorkie, she had a nightmare and started growling in her sleep, so I pet her and she calmed.
--two days later I went into the bathroom when she was sleeping, she heard the knob twist and barked.

Odd- But not unheard of. I have a kitty who will growl in her sleep- quite loudly. So I suppose a dog howling isn't impossible.

Yes, this is very normal. You're dog is sleeping in a deep sleep and doesn't even realize that he is howling. If you want to stop it, you may want to try putting a muzzle on him only while he is sleeping so that way he can't howl, but then if a robber comes he can't attack.

What kind of dog do you have?? Put your hand on him while he is sleeping, and give a gentle shake, this should help.
