walk around times sqaure especially at night!!! I would never never tell you to buy so much as a water from any store there as everthing is inflated and can be gotten in a few minutes walk elsewhere. Get your picture with the naked cowboy, watch the guys making art on the sidewalk, ride the toys r us ferris wheel ,stand on the sidewalk at 6 am for the good morning america show. yet a cavet...my son has still not forgiven me for not buying him a 12 pack of Reeses peanut butter cups at the Herseys store that we could have bought at home for 3.99 lolol

yeah times square has all the major stores and restaurants that you will find in any major city, only way bigger, and more touris-ty... mcdonalds, virgin megastore, toys r us, swatch, foot-locker, etc (but it does have some comedy clubs that are good)... so its nice for a few photos, but you should see real new york... go to central park, or the metropolitan museum, go to some NY bars or clubs, catch a yankees game... the possibilities are endless.

on 49th street and Broadway and if you have a very sweet tooth, you can go either to the Hershey store or go across the street to the M & M's store.
If you are a big kid at heart, you can go to the Toys R Us store on 44th and Broadway; you can go on the ferris wheel (yes the store has a ferris wheel), or go hang with the T-Rex on the 2nd floor, or go into the Barbie Dollhouse, also on the 2nd floor.
on 42nd street between 7th and 8th avenues, you can go to either Madam Toussand wax muesuem or you can go into the newly opened Ripley's Believe it or Not Muesuem. Right across the street from the muesuems is B.B. Kings where you can eat and listen to music.
The Laugh Factory is located on 8th avenue between 42nd and 43rd streets for some live comedy.

Yes, by all means get out of there. The recommendations so far are to visit chain outlets that you could visit in Indianapolis.
Go to the museums.

waste lots of money?!
like someone else said, take the subway and go see "real" new york, not the commericalized version that every tourist goes to see and thinks is nyc.
go to the lower east side, the upper west side, brooklyn, queens, harlem, washington heights, etc. GO see something other than rampant consumerism, times square is lame to all new yorkers,...only tourists go there

For $2, you can take the subway to a part of town that's not horrifically crowded, commercialized, and tourist-oriented.

times square is CROWED, hott in the summer, and has mad humid air that you can't breathe in. i suggest you skip times squre and go to some less tourist-ty spot.
i only go to times square when i have to.
fun things to do? GO IN EVRY STORE THAT HAS AC. that is my suggestion. because if you go in the summer...wow
