...how long it would take to identify each other by discussing issues similar to those discussed on this forum?
#1 no name tags...or avatar masks.....Duh.
#2 you may not identify yourself,by spiritual beliefs or reveal where you reside, state your name etc....you get the idea.

I think that it would be interesting...Of course, some do use their actual photo as an avatar...we would work around this.

That which is in your heart, will eventually spill out of your mouth......I mean not blood....unless you bite your tongue real hard. (spiritual heart)

I think this is a great idea. It would be a lot of fun. I will say though, that 6 years ago when I was newly divorced I went to a get together of some chat room denizens from AOL. I had been visiting this room for a while and thought I was getting to know people. I was stunned when I got there and one of the "hot" women probably weighed close to 250 lbs and was covered in body glitter. Another one looked like she hadnt washed her hair in a month. The men were no better. I got out of there fast!

Those questions seem perfectly valid to me. I got a violation notice for one of my answers and did send an appeal but I think that was going to be a waste of time. Y!A is still a good site, but if they don't do something to get rid of the trolls and the wrongful violations, I think there will be a lot of people leaving the site and looking for someplace else to ask and answer questions. There have already been several questions asked on Y!A as to the location of another Q & A site. Definately make your questions and answers private, that should help a bit.

I'd be game to go, and even though I have red hair, I look a lot older than my avatar. I'd love to meet the people in here. But you realize that there are probably a lot more "regulars" than most of us realize...

I'd bring some games to play, including some ice breaker games.

Anyone here ever played "I have never" (everyone gets 10 pennies, and you go around the circle, and tell everyone something you have never done. If you have done it, you have to put a penny into the pot in the middle of the group. When you lose all 10 pennies, you are out of the game. The last person with any pennies left gets to keep the pennies).

I think it would be a lot of fun!!!

Bummer...all I would have to do is to say I have some ice breaker games and you would all know who I was...:(

But anyone who cannot play nice has to leave the sandbox!!!

I think if we were all in the same place, say sitting around the tablr. We would probably get along better. I think ( yes Christians do that) that one of the problems is not being able to see any nonverbal communication that people use to express what they are thinking and feeling. Plus the fact that people can hide behind their computers and not really interact with others or see the consequences of their words.

hmmm... would be identified because of the type of answers that person gives, everyone has a different style. Maybe I'd be recognized because most of the time I write "LDS!!! :)" on sources, that is kind of like my signature. But I don't always use it. So if it happens that none of us can have an avatar or name tag and we can not identify ourselves, everyone should create its own signature, like the name of an object, a song, or something. ^_^

I doubt it would be easy to spot anyone. I for one do not talk so formally. And once someone created an I.D or avatar, the personality usually becomes reflective of that. Most people are known here for their belief and how they represent it. So, seeing a person without all ot this, I doubt anyone would be able to guess who anyone is... ( Of course I would have my hijab on... that's the one give away :-)

At such a party, I'd get a drink and stand in the corner, find the two or three people I'm closest with and shake hands, then slowly make my way meeting people, and those I find intelligent here I would thank them for being part of my intellectual life.

That would be a lot of fun. There are many I'd like to meet, and a few I would avoid.. Michelle A scares me....:)

I met some ladies from a message board on about.com several years ago. It was interesting; their online personalities were pretty much the same in person, although there were a few who were more shy face to face.

Well, anyone who has read my other profile knows I'm short and female. Anyone who has ever read my answers to my questions also knows I'm not white, I have curly hair, I'm fat, and I don't like real shoes. So, I think it'd be fairly easy to pick me out of the crowd.

Of course, you all know that now as well, so just keep an eye out for me. I'll be over by the pizza.

there are so many of us that say and believe the same thing, that I think it would be quite difficult. and that goes for all beliefs.
as for disguising me it would be kind of hard to cover all of this up. and we do check out each others 360's,, and have see pictures.
so it would have to be a masquerade party.
and there could be a contest for the one that identifies the most.

doesn't Michelle A sound like a real Christian?
