Go to the pharmacy and pick up a head lice kit, It will have a fine tooth comb with it. Might be good if you had some one to check for nits and then do each others hair.

I dont know if protective services would take that seriously especially if he fullfills all her other needs...(if thats the case) Is there a particullar reason why he won't treat her hair? There is a usefull site that I found and maybe if you send this to your daughter's dad he might consider doing something....espacially the part that talks about the treatement. If he reads it, he might understand that not only your daughter can have lice but also the bed sheets, the sofa, the carpets, and even imself!!!! And believe me that is unbearable!!!!! I work in a daycare center andd had some once(you have to remove all the egg with a comb cause lice are now more resistant than they were...It takes hours!).

This isn't an easy way, but one that works. After using the drug store stuff with no results, My granddaughter was terribly infested with them.
Do this outside, and you will need help. Get a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a dish and several cotton balls. Dab the alcohol to the scalp and make sure it is very saturated. Cover with a plastic cap or bag and secure all openings. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash the hair. Lice will be gone. good luck.

They sell many effective products at your local pharmacy or walmart. Your options include a shampoo that you use a few times that will do the trick. A fine-tooth comb kit will do the trick as well. Also if your looking to change up your style you could always shave your head. cheap and effective!
best of luck
