Of course! A baked pie or a casserole is almost always welcome. I dont know if you're from a different country/society.. but you should serve them american food, something most people would enjoy.

Also... if your neighbor just moved in and is new to the neighborhood.. it is custom to bring them a loaf of fresh bread... you don't have to make it yourself...it could come from a bakery.. but it is said to bring good luck to the new household.

I've had neighbors that would cook enough dinner for their families, and then make a hot plate and bring it over as a nice gesture. I've also done the same.
It's great to know someone is thinking of you! and in America, meals should be celebrated, and shared with loved ones, including neighbors.

You could also have the family over for a bbq maybe for 4th of July weekend? Great way to get to know new neighbors!

Depends. It used to be back in the day that when a new family moved in to the neighborhood, the neighbors would take them homemade cookies, a casserole, etc. as a "welcome to the neighborhood" gift. Nowadays, people are too afraid of foods being poisoned, making them sick, etc. The only situations that I'm aware of where people give food are when A) a couple has a baby and don't have time to cook; or B) at a wake (funeral gathering). And that's usually only close friends/neighbors who do that.

Absolutely. Especially if you are of different background. Food given is one of these things than can and do bring people together.

You don't have to sit there and watch them eat it since they may or may not like what you fixed. They WILL try it.

My neighbor is Mexican and I give him venison and jams, and wine I make and he brings over food about 2-3 times a month.I love his grilling of foods.

This food exchange is basic and goes back since mankind could communicate in the simplest terms. Maybe not all neighbors will like this but I welcome it and am sure my neighbor does also. You are out nothing if you make the offer. If they refuse, be polite and tell them if they need anything, you will help them.

They are your neighbors and becoming a cohesive neighborhood is a very good idea in many respects.

It's generally considered a very friendly gesture and is usually done when someone new moves into the neighborhood. Usually some sort of baked good such as cookies work.

Quite often neighbors bring over cookies or even a cakes a welcoming or goodwill gesture. If someone is ill or has died in the family, neighbors and friends bring over entire meals.
I do not recommend "exotic" foods such as fish head soup, vichyssoise, or escargot.

It is very common in American society. It's a mark of friendship, and is also a way of welcoming a new member of your community.

Absolutely. I see no problem with that. I wish that when i moved into my new house my neighbors had dropped by with cookies or a cake or something. My neighbor at our old house did. I don't know anyone who would be offended. I think it shows manners to be friendly and welcoming.

best wishes
