Why does beer make me feel tired, but I can drink vodka and it doesn't. Is there anything else that won't make me tired?

the hops probably, they have sedative properties. Look for beers with low hop content.

Probably 2 things do this. The sugar in beer or any alcohol will give you a sugar rush or wake up. The alcohol will also elevate your BP and heart beat for awhile. Then things come crashing down as the alcohol wears off and the sugar.
What was a "high" now becomes a "low". Many people, usually young, brag about "passing out" from drinking too much. Usually they just went to sleep. If someone is talking to you, obviously drunk, and drops over and is un-responsive, then that is passing out and is of serious concern if not fatal.
Hard liquor affects people differently since the affect is beyond stopping when you feel it. Especially if you slammed the drinks. Possibly you may drink hard liquor slower and the crash affect isn't as bad. Hard liquor for most people is a "bad" drunk whether you get tired or not.

Beer contains more calories (per "drink") and has a lower alcohol per volume content than liquor, so you may only be feeling a light buzz rather than a full blown alcohol high if you don't drink much beer.

cause its a freaking depressant! it slows your body down, including your brain. it slowly shuts everything down. thats why if you drink to much, you die.
