If it's a large dog, doubtful. A small may not feel so good for a day or two, but he/she won't die. Even though chocolate is toxic, milk chocolate is the least toxic. Now, if it were baker's chocolate, it probably would even kill the large dog. The darker the chocolate, the more toxic it is.
My Min Pin ate an entire full sized Hershey bar and absolutely nothing happened to her. I didn't give it to her, she stole it out of my sister-in-laws purse!

If the dog is a medium to large size, and ate the milkyway when no one was around, don't freak out. Our last dog ate a whole hershey bar, and all that was left was the wrapper. I got extremely worried, but then learned that it takes a lot of chocolate to make the dog sick.
Keep an eye on them, if they start acting lethargic, no appetite, then I'd call the vets. More than likely, your dog will be okay, just remember to keep chocolate away from them, especially when leaving them alone for long periods of time. Everything should be okay. :)

He should be fine. There isn't a lot of chocolate in the milkyway. Upset tummy at the most if he's a little dog. It is NOT the amount of chocolate the dog has to eat to be toxic, it's the concentration of theobromine and caffeine it contains. Pure bakers chocolate is the most concentrated. A one ounce square can easily kill a small dog.

Depends on the size. 15lbs or under, and you need to take it to the vet. If it's over 15lbs, you might be alright, but watch carefully for any signs of lethargy, sickness, etc.
You should be more careful, and not leave things like that lying around where a dog can get to it. I'm hoping you didn't actually GIVE the dog the Milky Way.

Let's see, a Milkyway is milk chocolate on the outside and fluffy nougat on the inside... not alot of real chocolate there... Probably wouldn't affect a large dog.

No. Chocolate is a bad thing for a dog but only in a quantity relative to their body weight. Here's some guidlines:
Using a dose of 100 mg/kg as the toxic dose it comes out roughly as:
1 ounce per 1 pound of body weight for Milk chocolate
1 ounce per 3 pounds of body weight for Semisweet chocolate
1 ounce per 9 pounds of body weight for Baker's chocolate.
Also, avoid onions...like most dogs will eat those anyhow.

It is very dangerous to give a dog or cat chocolate, especially a dog. Whether the dog gets very sick or dies depends on the dogs size, breed, and immune system sensitivity. For the safety of the dog, it is advised not to give him/her any chocolate.

Do Not feed your dog even a small piece of chocolate.
cocoa is toxic to your dog.You do not know how much your dog can eat before becoming very ill or possibly die.I will not tell you that a small piece is probably o.k because you should not give your dog any. There are treats you can buy for your dog that are for dogs.I have worked for a vet and have seen dogs die from eating cocoa.you do not want that on your mind for years to come!!!

I use to work at a veterinarian's office and I asked the question. Everyone says that when you give a dog chocolate it could die. He said that chocolate can't kill dog, BUT if you give a dog a solid brick of chocolate there is a very high chance, one of my friends has given his dog a king sized Snickers and it is a miniature dachshund and it is still alive but overweight.

It depends on what size the dog is. If it's a large dog it may not hurt them too much but if it's a small dog the chocolate could be deadly. I would suggest calling an after-hour veterinary office and tell them the situation and ask what they would suggest. At the least, it's probably going to give the dog diarrhea. Good luck to you and the poor doggy!
