like a lot of girls say " you have pretty eyes" or "that was really sweet of you to do" my usual response is something lame like " yep" or "no problem" im looking for something more in depth, thanks ppl!

You could say thanks and sound like you mean it. Or pull a girl and say "you really think so? thanks!" or I appreciate that. Or be the shy guy and say thanks then smile a bit and look away.
Dude, just don't say yep. That's not cool.

C'mon, come back with something a little bit funny and interesting.
If it's a pretty girl doing the compliment, you can come back with
- I have lots of girlfriends already, but I'm taking applications for more. I don't pay very well though, but I make up for it in other ways. What's your name and number?
- I'm not allowed to date more than 7 girls at a time. Give me your name and number, I might be able to call you next week.
- the girl says, "you have pretty eyes", you look her up and down and say "you have pretty...uh...uhhh...I'm going to have to get back to you on that one"
- the girl says, "you have pretty eyes", you say, "what the hell, you didn't notice my butt? I saw you looking at it, really you can tell me the truth, I'm promise I won't cry...in public"
- the girl says, "that was really sweet of you to do", you say "I'm glad you enjoyed it, cause I'm only sweet on very special occasions with people I like, I just had a momentary lapse in judgement for now"

Usually, i'll give them a cute, little innocent smile, and look right into their eyes..and say thanks. Even though its just a simple reply, the eye connection, and smile says a lot more than words ever could. :)

A simple "thank you" should suffice. Don't compliment them back though 'cause it would seem insincere. So say "thank you" and flash them a smile.

someone taught me back in 1990 thru 2003 (on and off, more off then on lol) to just say thank you and look deep into their eyes and say it when i do. trust me it works wonders.

How about "Thank you" or depending on your relationship with the girl - a kiss.

A simple "thanks" would do the trick and if your digging the girl you would then give a compliment back and from there strike up a conversation.

i say thank you and if its like a compliment about your apperence i say something nice about them!

thank you or "the pleasure was truly mine" but you have to smile when you say it. sincerity is the most important thing. once you can fake that you've got it made (lenny bruce):)
