Can I take the Metro from Newport Beach to Hollywood?

We will be on vacation and will be staying in Newport Beach

With apologies to MobileMark, Public Transit in LA and OC stinks.

There is www.octa.net (for Orange County, where Newport Beach is) and www.mta.net for LA. If you check out those sites, you will see that it can be done, but it's difficult. Best bet: rent a car at Enterprise or Hertz. It's about 40 miles.
