Well, sweetie, with any luck at all, you will have many years before that happens.... but unfortunately, we all die. When the blood stops circulating, consciousness ends. The bacteria that helped you digest your food, now digest you. And the molecules that made you up from other living things are returned to be used by different other living things.

You get to have right now in your body, molecules that Beethoven used, but none yet from Elvis...he hasn't been dead long enough....

Rejoice that you have about 80 good ones. Don't waste any of them with foolish errors like marrying a stupid man, , (choose a husband with your head as well as your heart), or having more children than you really want..... Education is the key out of poverty, so stay in school.... Always be able to support yourself, and those 80 years will be awesome.

If I died tomorrow, I have lived enough experiences to fill four lives, and I'm 55...I have about 30 good ones left...... I have been all over the world, met interesting people, Married two lovely men, photographed lions in Africa, ridden elephants in Nepal, watched birds in Central and South America, swam with sea lions in the Galapagos Islands.... studied Egyptian heiroglyphics, and read them rather well at one time, I got to study everything that interested me, speak 3 languages (poorly, however) other than English, and know a little bit about almost everything. And I don't plan to stop very soon, either!!!!! It isn't the number of years, hon, it's how much you can pack into them. You can sit there and fear your next day, (as you are doing now....) or you can drink fully of what life is.... experience. It's your choice. But no one survives their own death, sorry.... When it's over, hon, it's over.

The question of what happens after death can be confusing. The Bible is not explicitly clear on when a person will reach their final eternal destiny. The Bible tells us that after the moment of death, a person is taken to Heaven or Hell based on whether he or she had received Christ as his or her Savior. For believers, after death is to be "away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, after death means everlasting punishment in Hell (Luke 16:22-23).

This is where it can get confusing as to what happens after death. Revelation 20:11-15 describes all those in Hell being cast into the lake of fire. Revelation chapters 21-22 describe a New Heaven and New Earth. Therefore, it seems that until the final resurrection, after death a person resides in a “temporary” Heaven and Hell. A person's eternal destiny will not change, but the precise "location" of a person's eternal destiny will change. At some point after death, believers will be sent to the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21:1). At some point after death, unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people - based entirely on whether a person had trusted Jesus Christ alone for the salvation of their sins.

Job 7:9-10

As the cloud falls and vanishes away, so he who goes down to the grave shall come up no more.

He shall return no more to his house, nor shall his place know him any more.

Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, 10

"For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

As well their love, as their hatred and their envy, is perished long ago; neither have they any more a portion for ever in anything that is done under the sun.

...

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, whither thou goest. "

I'll read you verses from the bible that answers what you don't understand yet.

There's a resurrection of the dead in the bible. Let's read in John 5:28-29 the Lord Jesus Christ said,

"Marvel not at this: for the hour cometh, in which all that are in the tombs shall hear his voice,

and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment."

So there's resurrection of the dead.

You will face judgement seat of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:10

"For we must all be made manifest before the judgment-seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad."

In Revelations 20:11-13 it says,

"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. "

If you do good, you'll be brought to eternal life. but if you do evil, you'll suffer everlasting punishment.

Daniel 12:2

"And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt."

Revelations 14:9-11

"And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a great voice, If any man worshippeth the beast and his image, and receiveth a mark on his forehead, or upon his hand,

he also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is prepared unmixed in the cup of his anger; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

and the smoke of their torment goeth up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, they that worship the beast and his image, and whoso receiveth the mark of his name. "

You should not be afraid of dying (physically) because if it's ordained by God for man to die, then it's not a bad thing.

Hebrews 9:27

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: "

If you're a servant of God, death is even a good thing.

Isaiah 57:1

"The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. "

It's a way for merciful men to be saved from the evil to come.

Well, you've come to the right place! You see, i can tell you EXACTLY what happens because i've died! No, seriously!

Heads up buddy: no one who can give you that answer is still on this planet, at least, ABOVE the ground. You're just going to have to figure out what YOU BELIEVE. Or you're just going to have to find some peace knowing that whatever happens will happen, and there's nothing you can do about it except live the best life you can. I really do hope this helped!

Jesus Christ spoke about the condition of the dead. He did so with regard to Lazarus, a man whom he knew well and who had died. Jesus told his disciples: “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest.” The disciples thought that Jesus meant that Lazarus was resting in sleep, recovering from an illness. They were wrong. Jesus explained: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14) Notice that Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. Lazarus was neither in heaven nor in a burning hell. He was not meeting angels or ancestors. Lazarus was not being reborn as another human. He was at rest in death, as though in a deep sleep without dreams. Other scriptures also compare death to sleep. For example, when the disciple Stephen was stoned to death, the Bible says that he “fell asleep.” (Acts 7:60) Similarly, the apostle Paul wrote about some in his day who had “fallen asleep” in death.

The Bible teaches that the dead “are conscious of nothing at all.” They are not alive and have no conscious existence anywhere. The account of Lazarus confirms this. Upon returning to life, did Lazarus thrill people with descriptions of heaven? Or did he terrify them with horrible tales about a burning hell? No. The Bible contains no such words from Lazarus. During the four days that he was dead, he had been “conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Lazarus had simply been sleeping in death.
The account of Lazarus also teaches us that the resurrection is a reality, not a mere myth. Jesus raised Lazarus in front of a crowd of eyewitnesses. Even the religious leaders, who hated Jesus, did not deny this miracle.

Think about this too: If Lazarus had been in heaven for those four days, would he not have said something about it? And if he had been in heaven, would Jesus have made him come back to earth from that wonderful place? Of course not!

Yet, many people say that we have a soul, and they say that the soul lives on after the body dies. They say that Lazarus’ soul was alive somewhere. But the Bible does not say that. It says that God made the first man Adam “a living soul.” Gen. 2:7, Adam was a soul. The Bible also says that when Adam sinned, he died. He became a “dead soul,” and he returned to the dust from which he had been made. The Bible also says that all Adam’s offspring inherited sin and death too.

The Scriptural teaching of the resurrection, however, is not compatible with the doctrine of the immortality of the soul. If an immortal soul survived death, no one would need to be resurrected, or brought back to life. Indeed, Martha expressed no thought about an immortal soul that was living on elsewhere after death. She did not believe that Lazarus had already gone to some spirit realm to continue his existence. On the contrary, she showed her faith in God’s purpose to reverse the effects of death. She said: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” (John 11:23, 24) Likewise, Lazarus himself related no experiences of some afterlife. There was nothing to report.

Clearly, according to the Bible, the soul dies and the remedy for death is the resurrection. You enjoy the best sleep ever, until Jesus resurrects you, sometime in the future.

At death, the human spirit leaves the body (Ec. 12:7) and goes either to heaven or hell (Luke 16:22ff). As demonstrated by the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:22ff.) and affirmed by Christ when he tells the thief he will be with him in paradise "today" (Luke 23:43) there is immediate conscious existence after death, both in heaven and hell (2 Cor. 5:8; Rev. 6:9-11; Phil. 1:23).

At their deaths, believers may be carried by angels to heaven, as Lazarus was (Luke 16:22). These angels could include one or more who have served and protected us while we were on earth (Heb. 1:14). Some angels are specifically assigned to children and likely accompany them to heaven (Matt. 18:10).

We will meet our Lord face to face (Ps. 17:15; 1 John 3:2; Rev. 22:4). Those who have served him faithfully will hear him say, "Well done" (Mt. 25:21; Luke 19:17). Eventually he will wipe away the tears from all of our eyes (Rev. 21:4).

Some believers will receive a "rich welcome" when they enter heaven (2 Pet. 1:11). It seems likely those who on earth have impacted or been impacted by the arriving believer (perhaps including family members), and who have gone to heaven before him, may participate in the welcoming celebration.

Why no atheists? The Christian faith--most religions, actually-- have pretty much got this story covered, but it seems you're not buying it or you wouldn't be so worried about it.
How did you feel before you were born? That's what it will be like after you die. No pain, no consciousness, no nothing. It's hard to imagine, but it's not scary--it just is.

Please read your Bible at Ecclesiates 9:5,6,10 it tells you what happens to us when we die. It shows us that death is a state of nonexistence. Also, at John 5:28,29 the bible shows us the hope for all those who have died, which is a resurrection to eternal life on a paradise earth.(Psalms 37:10,11)(Revelation 21:3,4)

Roos, the master of your future is Christ - if you have put faith in him.

Fear of death is the soul's way of telling you that something is wrong.

Perfect love casts out fear. When you come to know the perfect love of Christ, you will not fear death.

To answer specifically:
At the point of final death, when the life is totally gone from the body, your soul goes to which ever place it belongs.

If you are redeemed from sin by the perfect blood of Christ's sacrifice, you go immediately to be with him.

If you do not have that covering of your sins, you go immediately to the place of judgment. This is where all souls have been waiting since the beginning, who are not redeemed. That is sometimes called Hades, or Sheol. It is the place of the dead who are enemies of God.

At the end of time, all those who are in the Hades will be brought before the Great White Throne (See Rev 20-22).

But, the good news is that if you are living in faith, alive in the knowledge of God, by faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ: you are not going to suffer that judgment.

Read the Gospel of John, the letters to the Phillipians, Colossians and Galatians to get a better understanding of these things.

Raven, the Bible clearly teaches that the dead do not know what is happening in the world after they pass. This is not the place of dead people wandering.

I used to believe that as well, but God showed me in his word and in dealing with the fallen angels, that they are deceiving humans to think it is our dead relatives wandering around. It is not.
