Toning your muscles as a kid is okay- just don't over do it. Your growth plates have probably done at least the majority of their growing- just don't become a meat-head, and weight lift in moderation. As far as muscle mass is concerned- you need to work your muscles before the protein will do anything. Here are how your muscles work: You put holes in your muscle by using them and after a day or two, they finish repairing those holes and tears, but they come back bigger and stronger. Just eating protein will not effectively give you muscle mass without pitting or "damaging" them.
As far as foods high in protein- meats (of course), beans, peanut butter, eggs, seafood, and dairy.

Well, there are some great hi-protein drinks. I personally love Bolthouse Farms Mocha Cappuccino drink.... it's divine and loaded with protein. (tastes just like a frappucino from Starbucks) As far as foods, you'll get a really high amount of protein in a single serving of cottage cheese. And, of course, lean meat. Also cheese, yogurt. And milk, eggs.
