Not to sound too cliche, but since I'm aspiring to become a known guitar player I have to say that I'm happy to be myself. Because why be those players when you can learn from those greats and develope your own style as they did. Eventually you will be influencing other up & coming musicians as well.

But.....If that doesn't count as a good answer...I'd have to be John Petrucci or Steve morse......they're just not human lol!

Well, since Clapton is out...

I'd pick Andres Segovia. His technique was as far beyond most rock and roll guitar players as Mozart's was beyond Barry Manilow. People watching him would look around for the other guitar players, because they couldn't believe all that sound was coming from one guitar.
