I don't tolerate that kind of behavior from anyone for any reason. Anyone who treats me that way is obviously not a friend.

Darlin, this is just too weird! The same thing is going on with me right now. One friend I have had over 40 years, and the second, I've been a casual accquaintance with for about 2 years.
Friend #2 told friend #1some things that I supposedly said. I didn't. But friend #1--the one I've been through so much, the one I've known so long, and the one I thought I could truly count on, will have no contact with me. This has been going on for over 2 months now. I haven't "pushed " myself on this friend, but the longer she acts like this, the more angry I become. "Friend" #2 will get it from me in the very near future! It will be an attitude adjustment that I'm gonna love to give to someone! But the love, trust and friendship that I felt for Friend #1 is slowly being killed.

I would leave and once i had cooled off, I would give them a call later and find out what their problem was. If they still wouldn't let me get a word in, then I would have no further contact until they would talk things out. You can't make people listen to you or vice versa. You don't have to tolerate them treating you like a doormat either.

Sorry your "friend" has a toxic effect on the relationship: Now you know. Should stay far away from her -- for your own health. You don't need to accept abuse.

It doesn't matter how close someone is to you, they have absolutely no right to embarass you in public. It is acceptable to defend your honor.
