Ok I was married 3 weeks ago, my new mother in law parked her rv here and there is has stayed for 3 weeks now, minor part that needs to be fixed, but she refuses to fix it, she wants to fix her car she left up her over the winter and drive that back down south..so she's waiting for her social security to "fix" this other car(by the way she will NOT have enough to fix it nor will she have enough to go home, or to live the next for either?? We just got back from our "honeymoon" and are totally broke, my husband is gone all day working, She comes into my home using bathroom etc, without knocking(i've locked the doors now) takes the phone to her trailor, and I'm missing calls, eats our food, not offering to help or anything, I finally blew a "small" gasket and offered to help fix her RV and get it on the road as it is so inexpensive.she refused. She wants to wait for her car. She then came into some money but wanted to go play bingo and us give her a ride! HELP! I don't want to be mean

Just stand up for yourself and enforce your house 'rules' so to speak.. Parents have a hard time letting go and often act/think they can do whatever at their children's places bc they are still the parent. You will cause a fight and people will be mad. But if they love you they will get over it and hopefully respect your home and possesions more.

You're just gonna have to put your foot down. Unfortunately sometimes that is all that will get through to someone. Tell her that you can't afford to keep feeding her and she has to go. And no, you shouldn't feel bad. I had to give my own mom the boot for the doing the same type of thing to me and my husband. Ultimately she understood and we still have a great relationship.

sorry, time to get mad. she's playing a game here. who knows why but you don't have to play along. either she's to insensitive to see that she's out of line or she doesn't care and thinks she's entitled b/c it's her sons home. no matter. it's time for her to go home. good luck.
