I have all my 1040's filled out and ready to go. How do I go about filing them to the IRS? Should I send them by mail? Go to a local office? I know how stupid, irresponsible, etc. I am so if you could PLEASE just give me the information I need without those kind of comments, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mail each one individually,do not mail them all together in one package.

You can send them by mail. If you mail them, send each one in a separate envelope. If you'd prefer, you could go to a local office and hand them to them, but filing by mail is the normal way.

If you have refunds coming, you'll get them for tax years 2004 and later. Anything before that is lost, you're too late. If you owe, you'll also owe penalties and interest - the IRS will let you know how much that is.

Good luck, and it's good that you're getting straightened out on this.

I personally would not mail them. Look in the phone book, most folks have a local IRS office. Take them there and hand them over in person. That way you are assured that the IRS have received your information. Good Luck!

It happens. I filed a 12 year old return for a client once, so don't feel too bad because you're taking care of it which is the important thing.

Mail each return in separately to your IRS service center. You can find the address for your state/area at this web address by clicking on your state on the map.

If the link doesn't work, go to www.irs.gov and type "filing address individual" in the search box to get yourself to the right place.

It's great you're filing, but be prepared for the IRS to follow up with possible fines and interest if you had a balance due.

At this point im sure there are massive fines, interest and penalties accrued. I know there is some sort of tax amnesty programs out there from time to time. Yo would be well best served by taking all of your papers and visiting a tax attorney and let him handle the filing or at the least contact a legal aid attorney if yo qualify.
