Are you trying to make a DVD disc or a FILE disk? A DVD disk is recognized by most DVD players and computers. A file disk is just like your floppy drive, computer hard drive, or thumb drive--all it has are files. To make a file disk, it should fit, but a DVD disk will make your AVI file larger because AVIs are highly highly compressed. You should convert it to an MPEG to show the file's true colors size-wise, then try to burn it to a disk. I won't be surprised if it doesn't fit, because changing formats from AVI to DVD will make it larger.
If you're rewriting (adding stuff) to an already-used disc, you may have problems because there is not enough space to add the files. In that case you must remove the old files or get a new disk.

Yes, it should.. cause avi is highly compressed. I think ur burn dvd to work in ur dvd player or dvd home theater system.. well u need to cut that avi file in small segments like 1 gb each.. so u will have 3 files from 1 file.. then try burnin it .. as avi file is decompressed and converted to dvd format it needs more space... so better split that file and then burn it on ur dvd

Yes, the size of an AVI file can expand considerably after converting it to the MPEG2 format required for a video DVD. Consider burning to a dual-layer DVD (8.5GB), or split the AVI and burn it to 2 or 3 DVDs.

There must be something else on the disc, a dvd is 4.7 gigs, a 3 gig would work NP. Try another program.

If its just 3gb, just burn it as a normal, video dvd and not a data dvd.
