Hi Laurie. Remember the old song: GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A REINDEER? LOL!
Seriously Laurie, it is rare but it does happen. I haven't heard of this in a long time (since the Sixties), of men being killed by their pet deer when they turned on them. Perhaps it is because not so many people keep deer as pets anymore. But especially during the rut (their mating season) a buck deer can attack people. A couple of years ago I heard of a family who couldn't leave their house because of a maurading buck. The Sheriff's Office was called and a deputy had to shoot the deer.
Actually Laurie, any wild animal that weights in excess of a hundred pounds can prove to be a threat to Man. Consider that even a much small dog, for example, can hurt, maim or kill a person. Although it is out of the norm, a deer can injure or kill a person.

Excellent question and I'm sure I'll get big thumbs down for the truth. I find few other hunters on this site that think the way we do. Most are basically just meat hunters from what I have read. I hunt Mule deer out here in the west and won't even get excited till I see antlers out past a bucks ears, which is usually about 24"s for a mature Muley. The guys I hunt with are pretty much the same way and I've come home without even filling my tag even though I've seen smaller decent bucks. We pretty much have got to the point now where we just apply for limited entry tags just so we can enjoy a true quality hunt. I didn't even draw this year but now I have another bonus point for next seasons draw! Maybe if more hunters weren't so hard up to just shoot something there'd be some more real nice shooters. Anyways, I know what your saying. Good Luck!

Most of the time this is just mating season because the deers hormones are all messed up because there ready to mate. The bucks get extreamly territorial and will fight with almost any other buck. They will even fight humans. This is very rare though. Most of the time they just run the opposite way. There have be incidents where deer have pinned hunters. Most of the time this is just during mating season. I would not worry about deer attacking you if you are hunting. If you bring a friend that hunts with you or someone you know that hunts with you, you will be fine.

Attacks from deer are rare, but they do happen. IT is mostly in the mating season when the bucks are chasing does and are aggressive. Not only can they just pin you to a tree, they can put and antler right through you. I guess if you piss off the wrong one, they will attack anytime.

Bucks usually dont attack unless they feel threatened or if its mating season. If you have seen a Buck during mating season you know not to even get near it, but the times that i have gone hunting it hasnt happened to me luckily. Bucks spook real easily so i usually dont worry cuz they run like hell away from you. Like any other animal it will attack if it is threatened, but just be careful and get that perfect shot.

more in mating season just because they have heightened sences. but it is more that they will attack if they feel threatened not because they want to attack you but the same is true for all species of animal with a few exceptions at an individual level, but that mostly applies to humans. so if you give a deer the space that it needs to be comfortable in then you shouldn't get attacked.

Bucks can attack but it's actually not that common as some may think. it's actually quite rare. mating season is normally the time for this to happen. Or if someone happens to try to get close to watch two bucks fighting and one can turn and think that another has shown up to fight.

As with any wild animal it is possible for one to attack at anytime. Bucks will attack by either charging with their antlers or rearing up and kicking with their front hooves. While attacks are rare even in mating season, they are increased and are usually the result of chemical (estrus) lures and scent covers attracting them to the hunters.

I have read about men being attacked by bucks, but that has never happened to me or to anyone I know. Bucks usually run when they see a hunter. They run fast, so one must shoot fast to get one. Your chances of being attacked are small in my experience.

I am a deer hunter and FU.. Peta. and the rest of them organizations. I agree deer have the place its right beside the taters and corn, like my Social Studies teacher said. And to answer you question deer will attack during the rut ( mating season for city folks) my neighbor was squirrel hunting and a 10 pointer charged him, so he pulled out his .44 rem mag and shot him dropped that deer right at his feet. He tasted good too Like Hank Jr. said " Thats how we do it in D.I.X.I.E. "
