Like any other drug it is based on the drug is based on your body mass as to how much it takes for you to be affected by it.

It depends on what he is taking it for. If he is truly injured or had recent surgery then it is ok. If he has taken it and the pain has decreased a lot... then do not let him take any more.
If he is taking it just because he wants to get high -- he needs to seek medical attention soon! It will do weird things to his body. If you ask him if he needs it, he will probably say yes (because of the morphine) but if you know he doesn't need it, get help! Morphine is a very strong medicine used for surgeries and serious injuries. Doctors usually prescribe not as strong medicine for everything else. As you know morphine can make you loopy etc... if he gets out of it - even just a little bit please go to the ER or doctor or something. He will need help because if he has no pain that needs to be treated it will do other things to his body.
I can not say how many mg's because there are multiple types of morphine. They are all used for different kinds of pain.
Good Luck

i was reading some of the other answers. Morphine reacts to every person differently... so depending on how his body reacts he may be safe but he should not be taking it if he isn't in serious pain or had recent surgery. If the doctor prescribed it... you should be a good friend and talk to the doctor about the dosage and how much he is taking when at home. If a doctor didn't prescribe it... he needs help.

I've been taking it for years for knee pain and it doesn't help me at all. I now take 250 mg a day and have NEVER gotten high off it. Your friend may have a problem that you need to check into, he is probably addicted now.

It's not so much how much he's taking as why he's taking it, which I think is what you are worried about. If he's taking it for any reason other than pain, he has a problem.
