I am new to this type of running and need to be able to monitor my heart rate. Distance is important also and am not sure if GPS or Pedometer is best.

Garmin Forerunner 305. A pedometer is based on stride distance and this varies widely based on how tired you are you, weather or not you are running up or downhill, etc.

Hello,

I would recommend either the Garmin Forerunner 301 or 305. I have the 201 and have been thrilled with it. A good friend of mine has the 301 (like 201...but with HR monitor), and he seems happy with it. Check out the product review below for more info. Good luck!

My Wife had a Polar watch and I had the generic version I got at Aldi. They both seemed to work the same. Polar probably made them both.

stay away from the pulse watches that require you to put your finger on it. really worthless.

The Polar chest band is also compatible with treadmills

i've got have been given have been given one from Lidl which cost approximately £10 yet you're able to basically get it once or twice a 300 and sixty 5 days. i've got have been given used it for era training so it may want to beep at undemanding periods yet i'm waiting to't remember how without going and fidgeting with it. one element it does do which i like is beep at a chain severe/low BMP so which you would be waiting to run difficult till your get cost hits the severe putting and then jog till you get extra powerful and then shop repeating.
