My magnavox tv is almost a year old. The other night i asked my brother to help me move it out of my room and into the living room, and i turned it on and there are green splotches on it. He was talking on the phone while moving it ,could the phone have ruined my tv screen. also i did not touch it all of the day he moved it. and i am not trying to blame it on him, i would just like to know what happened to it and if i can fix it or half to shell out another 200 bucks for a new one.

Try shutting it off for a while and turning it back on. This will allow the "degaussing" device in the set to normalize the magnetism in the picture tubes metal "shadow mask". When a set is moved the magnetic properties change, but when plugged back in and powered up this is corrected by the degausser inside the set.
I tend to think you may have moved the set close to something magnetic, like speakers, appliances, ect. Try moving the set back where it was as a last resort. If this cures the problem..location, location. I have run into this problem on quite a few occations.

I would be inclined to believe that the plastic locking strap on the deflection yoke (on the neck of the picture tube) has broken and the yoke has "slid back" from gravity or weight. In this case, you have to take the back off the set to verify this problem. The yoke has to be positioned correctly on the neck of the picture tube in order for the set to have decent color purity.

More than likely you didn't let it cool down overnight and restart it.....That will remove the splotches.
