My son came to pick me up from work and all of a sudden when he put it in drive, it wouldn't go. When he put it in reverse, it wouldn't reverse. When he put it in neutral, it would go forward but it was making noises. I just had the car inspected yesterday and everything was fine.

Transmission linkage, bring it to any tranny shop, shouldnt cost much but get it looked at ASAP.

The problem could very likely be a broken CV shaft where the drive axles come out of the transmission to the tires. If there is noise after you change gears, there is obviously the linkage is working.

This is a cheap fix compared to a transmission fix. This is common and the car will not move at all. I have experienced this before.

HERE"S THE CHECK: Did it make a loud popping noise going around corners for some time before this happened? If so that is most surely the problem.
Hope this helps.

sounds like the cable linking you shifter to your transmission has become loose or needs adjustment. It should be ok to drive the car with the shifter in neutral to get you up to the shop. Once you get to the shop tell them to check the shifter linkage and make any necessary adjustments... this should be a easy fix and you'll be on your way in about an hour without needing to buy any new parts.

It in a roundabout way slipped in impartial first, you probably did no longer observe the RPM upward push, then it in a roundabout way slipped into opposite previous the lock gate. that's astonishing. It wasn't good for the transmission. Time will tell.
