I'm reading this great book that's the entire Bible written as a novel (The Book of God - by Walter Wangerin). It's a good way for a new Christian to get a grasp of things, people, events. I'm enjoying it so much. But..
I'm up to where Moses just died. And I have to say, so far, things and people have been pretty wicked! Lying, betrayal, unbelief, scheming! Um.... does it get better??

I mean- the people are rather wicked and weak and scheming. I thought they'd be nice, holy people, but so far they're all pretty rotten! By better I meant, aren't there any good, decent people in it?

Aww come on. The author took the Bible and presented in a manuscript format that reads like a novel so people like me could understand the time line, stories, history, characters, etc.
It's ok if you don't believe in the Bible, or God. I was having so much trouble with the KJV that I got this to for a genera overview

Ok, the quick answer to yoru question is YES absolutely gets better. Gotta wait till the new testament though. The longer idea of it all is that it depends on what you focus on, you gotta remember that like any other novel or movie (yes there are variations but basically this is the main point of a movie or story) it takes you from what was perfect to how it all fell apart and the struggle to bring it all back together. By the way, the bible in a sense was intended to be a novel in the idea that it was meant to tell a story. The author of the book your reading believes that if you take 14 books (I forget which) of the bible you can tell a story like a novel without getting bogged down by all the rules of the old testament and all the "begots" and begotten" of the family trees it establishes. So where you started in the garden of eden everything was perfect. Then they ate from the fruit and it all fell apart. Now you have to read about the struggle to get back to where they wanted to be. The climax is the new testament and the only problem is that the end of the story hasn't happened yet. (That's revelations). So the problem is that if your only where moses dies. Then you still ahve a good ways to go in the story. Just hang in there.

The Bible is inspirational, a instruction manual for on an common basis living and dealing with lifes common issues, a e book of religion, an invaluable lesson in historic previous and a genuine inerrant message from the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob to mankind. The Bible incorporates no fiction as a result can't be a singular.

If the Bible were about some "Holy People", then it really would be a novel, in the sense that it would be a work of fiction. The Bible is about real folks. Some of them are decent people, some of them are just nasty skunks. That's the way life is. As I think most of us know, there is lying, betrayal, unbelief, scheming, etc. in real life.
If we are honest with ourselves, we know that such junk is hidden in our own hearts.
Remember, you can hide your real self from other people...you might even be able to fool yourself...but there is no hiding from God.

the "bible" as a novel...
LMAO @ that one !!!
the "bible" is just another tool that religion uses to brain-wash it's believers with false promises, lies and deceptions...
Lying, betrayal, unbelief, scheming are religious attributes !
ask Mr. Wangerin: Where's the PROOF ???
Here's the simple Solution for the "bible" and religion:
Create a Private, Personal, Direct, Divine Relationship with Our Creator and save Your Soul from religion's and atheist's beliefs and start Your journey back home, to Heaven.
<<<<<<< UnConditional Love is the only answer >>>>>>>

Maybe they can turn it into a mini series for TV. Arnold Schwarzenegger to play Moses, Sylvester Stallone as Solomon, and Paris Hilton as Sheba. Who would Tom Cruise play? I know, David.

The story of Esther was novelized several times and made into movies... why not? "I, Queen" or something titled like that, it's old, was one of my fave reads.

Of course this account of people being wicked is true. It's
showing you that mankind needs a Savior, thus, the NT with
Jesus Christ as our Hero! Plus, people are evil, wicked and
deceitful today. All people are, even me.....but with Christ we
have His imputed righteousness.
