I heard it is deactivated using remote control. If it is electronic, surely the military will invest in countering these Explosives and jam the signals, thereby disabling the device that has cost us so many brave lives.

Guys, hold off the sarcasm. these are hypothetical questions that anybody can wonder and ask including the ones making them. I'm not talking about revealing schematics about any possible counter measures for crying out loud. I'm talking about lobbying our government for effective counter measures and save lives!

THEY ARE ACTIVELY USING CELL PHONE JAMMERS TO STOP THE IED'S THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEY ARE MOUNTED ON AIR PLANES AND AND THEY ARE FAR AND FEW IN BETWEEN. THE MILITARY IS GETTING UP ON IT NOW.

I saw a response from someone yesterday that was talking about a big drop in the effective use of IEDs. He listed numbers that showed they are 10 times less effective at this point. He had actual numbers of dead per device I just don't recall them.

Bottom line is the guys are learning and getting better at avoiding or detecting.

So much for my short term memory.

um...i doth think you have seen one too many A-Team episodes.

An IED is an IMPROVISDED explosive device. This implies that they are never going to be made according to some schematic. They take whatever parts they can get their hands on, and turn it into an explosive.

If it was that easy, I'm fairly confident the military would have taken care of it already.

Do you think it would be wise to discuss on an international forum that the other side uses what is and is not working on the battlefield?

Talking about this kind of thing is a major OPSEC violation. You don't want the enemy to know our capabilities.
