Most of the countries in the middle East are made up of tribal people. They are separated by tribe, religion, culture, language just as surely as China is separate from France.
They have been warring against each other for 1400 years - with an occasional dictator taking over and keeping order once in a while. But, that is their history - that is the way they do "business". Nothing will change that.
In Iraq, you are never going to get a Sunni and Shi'ia to agree to anything...ever. They are historical enemy's and always will be. You are never going to have a "democracy"..
That's why the Iraqi "army" won't ever be "trained to take over" and "stand up so our troops can stand down". The army is made up of these tribal people who can't stand the man marching next to him and certainly wouldn't try to keep law and order in an area where "the other guy" lives....and that soldier wouldn't ever standby and let a rival tribesman assault a member of his own tribe.
That's why we shouldn't have gone there in the first place and why we need to get out of there. It makes no difference if we stay there a month, a year or 10 years.
You cannot change 1400 years of history and behavior.....ain't gonna happen.

A long time yet. Donald Rumsfeld's shock and awe policy deliberately destroyed all civil society in Iraq.
The telecommunications, water supply ,electricity supply and sewage systems were all deliberately wiped out.
All of the ministries and other government buildings in Baghdad were looted while the American troops stood and watched ( except for the Ministry of Oil of course) so the new government has to start everything from the beginning which is impossible with the failure of public order they have now.

The Welfare Mother of all Countries would be Israel. Over the past 50 years the American Taxpayer has paid more to israel than Iraq.
As for Iraq. If we left and cut off all funding Iraq would not collapse. It has been there for 7,000 years, before Egypt or Persia or China. It is the second largest Oil Producer in the World. Within minutes of our departure Russian and chinese teams will arrive to get those wells moving.

Yes. It will. Can't tell you when yet.
I'm tired of my tax dollars supporting Americans too lazy to work but you keep voting for politicians that do support that. Amazing how that works huh?
You can move to France and then your tax dollars will not support the war and your vote won't be used against my desires, nor against OUR National Interests.

That's VERY funny. Not even an entire penny of what you pay in taxes goes to Iraq.
I don't hear you saying that about welfare fraud.

No one on Yahoo knows.
Don't worry about the tax money.
It is Nothing compared to what the Democrats are going to tax us.
Just wait until we get a Democrat President in 2008, and a Democrat Congress.
"Pull up your socks,
And grab your kocks.
The Democrats are a coming."

Your tax dollar makes up very little of what is needed, so we'll give it back to you. Only time will tell if they can stand on their own, so we'll hve tos tay and wait and see until we are satisfied they can!
