Listen, getting mad won't solve anything. You have to solve the problem, but at the same time, showing them that they're getting to you is only going to make it worse. That, in their minds, promotes them higher than you. That makes them in charge, and that's what they want. Remember, you're the #1. You're the big cheese, the head honcho, and you don't have a #2 or a #3.

Here's what I would do. Calmly, but authoritatively tell them (don't ask them, because you're not asking for a favor) to sit down at the table. Be sure they sit far enough away from each other that they can't reach each other and then tell them to explain to calmly to one another why they're upset. BE SURE TO CONTROL THE CONVERSATION. Be calm, be assertive, and don't get aggressive. It won't solve anything at this point.

It may not be what you want to do, but play a game w/ them...something they like, do they like any board games? or something you can teach them from your elementary school days (cuz, lord, I hope you're not in elementary school!) they just want your attention, that's why they act out. Don't get mad at them, that won't help. I get the sibling thing. I used to HATE being near my little bro, but now we can talk to each other about anything. Put on a movie you all like and watch it w/ them...mostly don't provoke them to annoy you more. The 12 yr old prolly just feels like she's too big for a babysitter, especially you. Is there a way she can help you, so she doesn't feel like she's being treated like a baby? Most importantly, don't yell at them, and don't listen to these guys joking about hitting them. That's totally your parents deal! Don't even go there!

this has to be hard. The first thing you need to do is sit down w/ mom and have a talk with her. Tell her that they are not listening and that she needs to let them know you are in charge and what you says goes.

2nd talk to her about planning activites while you are babysitting. maybe renting movies and popcorn

or going to a local park/playground (get them wore out) through the football, play kickball,

Put the dog outside or the cat outside.Take a belt and wear those brats out good.My older sis( 5 yrs older than me) didnt hesitate to whip the tar out of us when we wouldnt listen.I was closer to her than anyone else int he family.Next ,set up some activities, plan some tgames, watch some movies etc, keep them busy.If they like to draw get them some paper and stuff.Think ahead of them, spank them when you have to.

you should be more responsible and you're not. how can you expect them to do the right thing when you're walking away and throwing animals in cages?
