The Marines will invite almost anyone to join them and put them through the basic training(6 months)
Many fail after 2 weeks , some last 4 weeks. The Marines then spend the next 9 weeks trying to fail as many as they can.The ones who survive 13 weeks are then trained uo into the finest body in the world.
Gets a bit more complicated but occifers training is about 15 months in total.
If you are up to it ..go for it.

Source :- we have had 2 marines in our family.
and damn good buffets they put on at the training camp. Don't think it's an official secret to say it's near Exeter.
Good luck in your efforts!
