When the Bible says, "If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book." Rev. 22:18

And,

"Ye shall not add unto the word, which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you."

Just wondering...

Just to add a little detail, I'm not trying to bring down the JW's, its a simple question that was brought to my attention. I don't have any Witness friends, so the only place I thought I could ask was on here. Sorry, I mean on offense, just asking. Duh Mary!

And the New International Version wasn't endorsed by God, so it will receive the same condemnation from God!

SEVERAL translations, not just the New World Translation, leave out these scriptures because scholars have seen that these verses DO NOT appear in the oldest and most reliable Bible manuscripts. Therefore, those scriptures are not the word of God.

In fact the New Internation Version Bible (NIV), which is very popluar, does not contain any of those scriptures either.

You know those verses you cited about not adding to the Bible or taking away from it? You should try applying those scriptures to your own Bible.

What makes you think the King James Version was endorsed by God? It was not the first Bible, nor is it the most accurate. Would God endorse a Bible that teaches about unicorns? Take a look at Psalm 22:21 and read about unicorns in the King James Version Bible. There is PROOF that the scriptures you mentioned did not appear in the original Bible manuscripts. So if your Mom and Dad taught you that the King James Version Bible was handed down by some angel, then they are flat out wrong.

Why do Protestant bibles have 7 less books that Catholic ones? Why do their (p) books of Daniel and Esther differ from ours (c)?

For almost 1500 years all bibles were the same.

Then Martin Luther came along. Luther saw fit to edit the bible as he wanted.

Now it's ok for anyone to edit the bible as they wish.

Which is why I get my knickers in a knot every time someone justified cruelty because THE bible says so. There is no THE bible!!!

Have you checked your own bible? If something is written under these verses you claim are empty or missing in the NWT, then you are guilty of what is written in Rev. 22:18...

Even my New International Version bible skipped these verses...it is missing.

DUH!
