Give it a day or two...he still has to expell the treated worms. Are the worms living or dead? Take him to the vet, they can prescribe a better medication.

In order to be treated appropriately you need to take a stool sample in to the vet and get a fecal test done. This will tell you exactly what type(s) of worms you are dealing with. The vet wil lthen give you the appropriate dewormer in the correct dose.
You should NOT use OTC dewormers especially for a puppy. OTC dewormers are often ineffective and can be dangerous.
Peopel should NOT self medicate any dog especially puppies..they can do far more harm then good and it can also result in death!!!!

Worms wont be seen in the dogs poo unless they are dead. they are usually will just be reabsorbed back in the body so you will never actually know the dog had worms. Make sure you a are using a high quality broad spectrum wormer Like Drontal. Follow your vets advice and If your Puppy had/haves worms it is a VERY good idea to go to a chemist and get some human wormers.

You can go to a vet for medication that will 'actually work'.
I don't know Safeguard, but I'm assuming it's from a shop - and I can tell you most flea or worming products from shops are useless, so I'm not a bit surprised the dog still has worms.
You need to go to a vets!

Honestly the best way is to take him to the vet ( and I am NOT one of those who run to the vet for every scratch and sneeze.) If you've wormed him and he's still got them only the vet can prescribe the good stuff - it'll save you money in the long run.

if your de wormer doesn't work - the best thing to do would be take him to the vet. It doesn't cost very much at the vet just to get dewormed ( make sure you tell them you don't want anything else)
And you might wat to think about contacting the people you got him from ( being a "free-to-home" person, a shelter, or a breeder) tell them he has worms and they might be willing to take care of it for you!
Good luck - golden retreivers are amazing dogs!!!

if you don't have the money to take him to the vet. then take in a stool sample and they should only charge you for the test. do know his weight when you go so they can prescribe the right dose. he should be in to see the vet for shots anyhow. don't try to medicate your dog yourself, take him to a professional.

I am still waiting to hear back from my appeal of a question that was deleted. I was simply asking people what truths Y!A had exposed them to, like what they had learned on this site. EDIT: I just checked my question and I won the appeal, yay!
