why is it that gays and other people are allowed to bash Christianity and other religions, then when anyone opens their mouth to speak their opinion about homosexuals they get verbally harrassed? Doesn't the 1st Amendment protect out right to "free speech"? then why are we getting that right taken away and homosexuals aren't? shouldn't we have the right to say what we want since others do? what's wrong with society now a days?

Your premise is that we should have equally free speech. I agree. But are you comparing people who say things with good manners and are thoughtful with people who are not?

I will not claim that one side or the other of the two areas you mention has more rude people. But I know that very few homosexuals criticize anything about Christianity OTHER than its position on homosexuality. I am not at all certain Christians only criticize homosexuals with regard to their stand on Christianity.

Face it: being left alone is all most homosexuals want. Just stop picking on them. They wouldn't pick on you if you were no longer picking on them. Indeed, many homosexuals consider themselves Christians and want to be accepted into the church. They even start churches of their own.

What the gays do is defense for years of being ripped apart by you people. What the Christians do is bigotry and hate.

With rights come responsibilities. Shouldn't you be spreading a little less hateful message? In addition, it is also free speech to "verbally harass" you when you spew hate and bigotry.

*So my answer may be off topic.....but....a few hours ago I had answered someone's question about why Paris Hilton didn't get as much jail time as Lil Kim or something.....

.And so I gave my full blown opinion on what I thought of Paris and the situation, and OF COURSE (no surprise) some weirdo obsessed PH fan reported me....?~!!.

.Anyways, I just think it's BS when anyone expresses their opinions and gets shot down for it.

.I'm sorry but I just think the whole Paris Hilton thing was blown out of proportion, and there was no need for all of that media coverage when there is far more important issues going on in the world right now. I mean people get out of prison and jail everyday, but you don't see them all over the news do you?

.Ugh...alright sorry for ranting.

.Anyways...I guess I was just stating what I said above in order to "relate" to what you had to say about free speech. Because basically I got punished by Y answers for speaking my mind about Paris Hilton.

.No worries though, I wrote them back and told my side and gave them a lecture about free speech etc.

.Yes, society is pretty messed up these days.

You have the right to verbally bash homosexuals as much as you want. Just as I have the right to tell you I think you're a homophobic jerk for doing it. Free speech goes both ways. Last I checked, no one was taking Christians' rights to say what they want away. Look at Fred Phelps. Look at all the hate spewing talking heads in the media.

Because homosexuality isn't a choice, it isn't controllable, it's cause by biology, it's wired into us. Therefore you have no right to judge us for it.

Do you think it's acceptable to discriminate against people of different races? To judge one sex lower than the other? To discriminate against anyone for something that is outside of their control is wrong, full stop.

I don't give a hoot if your Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Pagan, whatever. I don't judge people based on their religion, but by their actions and their words. People can believe what they want, but they cannot use those beliefs to put themselves above others, we're all equal, all human, and all unique.

There is such a thing as gay bashing. Inciting people to speak evil of gays. This is not the way of Christ. We are love everyone but not their sins because we all have them.

When speaking of gays consider yourself. Would you want this done to you in the way you are doing it. Something can be wrong and spoken of without inciting hate. You have the right to speak your mind on any giving subject: but do you have the right to badger. I speak on sins, not a sin; we have all fallen short of the glory of God

Why should Christians say anything about homosexuals? The problem is that Christians believe that they have a right to go around and tell everybody else what is a sin and what isn't. This is American, and INDIVIDUALS make individual choices. It is okay for you to disagree, but when you disagree and insist that you are morally right because your imaginary friend said so in his book, well, people are going to get upset with you. Believe in god, but keep it to yourself.

They have the right to verbally harass you, just as you have the right to verbally harass them. The line is drawn at GOVERNMENT intervention. You can't be SUED or JAILED for speech. But in this free-for-all, EVERYBODY harasses, so feel free!
