Wouldn't it be better to consider how sin and evil men are ruining the planet?

Nothing could be further from the truth. Religion has a long history of allowing people to worry about irrelevant superstitions and thus avoid paying any attention to actual physical reality. How could a religion which teaches that subjective experience is reality and that the physical realm is a figment of our imaginations (see Solipsism) do anything else but destroy the planet? Christians don't even understand what's real and what's imaginary and that's a major reason why the planet is in so much trouble. The inmates are running the asylum!

Many religions such as Christianity are not interested in saving the planet. In fact, they are actually hoping the world ends soon so they can experience the Rapture, so they don't care about Planetary or Ecological sciences.
They are also not directly involved in ending conflict and wars. They may "decry" war publicly, but as many wars are religion based why should they bother if it means the deaths of their enemies?
In a few instances throughout history there are documented cases where religion has been directly responsible for the instigation of destruction, manslaughter, and war. So in answer to your question I'd say that religion hurts our world far more than it does good. And whatever religion someone believes in, I doubt this was their gods' intended purpose.

It's not, never has, and never will help save our planet, religion in all reality has no place in today's world, only the hopeless and uneducated will keep some of it alive, but it will fail just like any other big business today.

Pagans and those who embrace Native American Spirituality are quite concerned with saving the planet. The christians, however, have been spouting off about the "End" being near for a couple millenia and their priorities are somewhere in Never Never Land.....

it's not. religion f*cked up our planet by causing wars. nowadays everyone is pissed at each other.. just look at the middle east! if we could all just get along maybe we'd actually get something done, but it's a little late for that now. unfortunately our generations have to deal with all this bull$hit caused by religious conflicts...
god wont save us, only we can because we created this mess. i don't believe in god.

To the extent a religion inspires people to have respect for Mother Earth, to take responsibility for cleaning up after themselves, planting green things and caring for endangered species, and so on, that religion is helping. In this regard, I think we pagans have quite a better record than most of the more establishment type religions. We regard the earth as a Goddess, our Mother, to be protected and loved and enjoyed in gentle harmony.

The word religion is such a wide word. But if you follow Jesus, you want to do the right thing, and that includes doing the right thing to the planet too.

Religion? Planet? I don't think that's our most big and stringent problem but inevitable eternal death.
However, there is a book named The Bible yet very controversed, as you can see even here in R&S, that states among other many things that turned out to be true in the end, that this problem can be solved.

Christianity talks of being a good steward of our resources. To save and make more from what we have. So on the enviromental side then we all need to keep the planet in good condition.

It's convincing people that we live in the last days and so we have no need to conserve our precious resources or fight against problems like global warming because we all know God will fix it all up in a jiffy when she comes back and...
Wait, religion isn't helping to save the planet. It's doing the opposite.
