Do u ever recieve text messages from ppl, like religious messages that say 'forward this message to (insert number) people and ur wishes will come true or u will find happiness etc etc?
I find these texts SO ANNOYING. I received one from a friend just now, and she told me in the message' if you don't forward this to 9 people you will have 9 years bad luck. This was the message:
Al Qayyum, Al Majid, Al Wajid, Al Wahid, Al Ahad, Al Samad, Al Qadir, Al Malik, Al Rehman, Al Rahim, Allah never fails, iss msg ko 9 lougo ko send karain, aap ko kal ek khush khabri milegi, agar aapne inkar kar dia to 9 saal tak bad kimat rahoge ye sabit ho chuka hai, kya aap Allah k liya 9Rs kharch kar saktay hain?
In English - send this msg to 9 ppl and u will receive glad tidings tomorrow, if you don't then u will have 9 years bad luck, this has been prooved. Can you spend the cost of 9 exts for the sake of Allah?

What do u people think of these kinda message?? Do you forward them on or ignore them??

How can a person's prayers be answered or receive good luck r whatever, by forwarding these kinda messages to ppl??
I'm sure Allah prefers people to PRAY for things, rather than sending messages to everyone.

Marth L - I totally agree, if these people really believe in Allah's word then they woudn't need to send these kinda messages.

No I do not send or forward these types of messages. If it has some touching message or something I will, but I delete the part that says forward this to 10 people or you'll have bad luck and die tomorrow. That is ridiculous! Some people don't have anything better to do with their time. Trust Allah. No one else can determine your fate.

You are right, those messages on text and myspace bulletins are ANNOYING!!

Salaam =)

Yes, I get a lot of these emails where it has some good information but then at the end it has some silly superstitious message. I really don't like when I see that at the end of an email. If it has a superstitious message at the end of it, I usually delete it. If I find that it has some good information on it and has a superstitious message, I just copy and paste the good part and leave out all of the superstition because it just doesn't feel right forwarding something like that.

I hope that answers your question.

Peace

Dear Daughter

Assalaamu alaikum warahmatullah

Just Ignore the letter sent or given to you, following is the fatwa of the religious school teacher about it.

Islamic chain letters and doom if not forwarded
Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani, SunniPath Academy Teacher

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Most of the content of such letters is baseless, containing fabricated hadiths that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) never said and calling for matters that the scholars of traditional Sunni Islam never said.

Rather, the right thing to do is to seek a sound source of essential Islamic knowledge, which is knowledge relating to one’s religious practice and daily life and actions, and then to act on it with sincerity and love of Allah.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani

Note from Mohammad A: I am not answering to your questions just to get rated as Best Answer, feel free to rate any one else. I am answering the questions as a moral obligation on my part. Allah knows the truth.

It just depends. Sometimes I forward the message depending on what kinda mood I'm in at the moment. It's not a requirement to forward the message so I believe nothing bad will come from not sending the message to another. However, I do think good will come from forwarding the message with good intentions.

First of all sinice this is about luck and all, Islam doesn't allow us to be superstitious for obvious reasons

therefore, you are not obliged to fwd them, and there are these msgs that makes the reader of the msg obliged to fwd or God wouldn't forigve him such and such, those you are not obliged at all to believe or agree or whatsoever...

they are just Bida'a in Islam
Bida'a is anything new in the religion (Islam) that was not known or done at the times of the prophet (PAPBUH)

Forward, nothing of that sort is true. If you really cared about your religion, you'd just believe in Allah's word...not some email saying so.

These people have nothing better to do. Islam strictly forbids any type of superstition. A good Muslim puts all of is faith and trials in the hands of Allah.

The Prophet (saw) described the characteristics of these seventy thousand. al-Bukhaari reports from Ibn 'Abbaas that the Prophet (saw) said, "I was shown the nations, and I saw a Prophet pass by with a group of his people, and another with a band of his people, another with only ten, another with five, and another on his own (with no followers). Then I looked and saw a large crowd of people. I asked, "O Jibreel, are these my ummah?" He said, "No, but look at the horizon." So I looked, and saw a huge multitude of people. Jibreel said, "These are your ummah, and those seventy thousand in front will not be called to account or punished." I asked, "Why?" He said, "They did not treat themselves with branding (cauterisation) or with ruqyaa (charms) and they did not see evil omens in things (i.e they were not superstitious): they put their trust only in their Rabb"". 'Ukaasha ibn Mihsan stood up and said, "Pray to Allaah (swt) to make me one of them". The Prophet (saw) said, "O Allaah (swt) make him one of them". Then another man stood up and said, "Ask Allaah (swt) to make me one of them". The Prophet (saw) said, 'Ukaasha has preceded you". (Saheeh al-Bukhaari, Kitaab ar-Riqaaq, Baab Yadhkul al-Jannah Sab'un Alfan bi Ghayri Hisaab, Fath al-Baari, 11/405)

I agree with Manhattan Girl and Samantha on this one. Personally I find it similar to reading horoscopes, it's all not true and it's all haram. God knows best.
