You need to start now. I've been planning mine for 6 yrs, and now I have 3 weeks left and the crunch is on an there are still things not done. Get yourself a wedding planner either a real wedding planner or in book form for guidance.

Pick you attendants and DELEGATE the duties they are to do for you (mine are lazy and inconsiderate and think it's all about them looking pretty). Ask for referrals from some of your married friends and things should go rather smoothly.

Try not to let people stress you out! It's your wedding, things should be the way you want them, not the way other people want them. Talk things over with hubby-to-be, because without him, there would be no wedding to plan. Good luck and God Bless!

As soon as you set the date.

If you are in a prime wedding location you need to reserve it asap, or else the dates and times you want will be gone before you know it.

Fiance and I started planning Jan 2006 for a June 2008 wedding.

Start planning now. I'd say it takes about a year to plan a wedding. Most reception sites might even be booked by now. They get booked up to a year in advance.

Start looking for a dress and order one. You need at least 3-6 months before your wedding to get alterations and such.

Start planning now. Scout out ceremony & reception locations. Make sure the date you want is available at the location you had in mind. Then start shopping vendors, photographers, caterers, florists, etc. Most weddings are booked at least a year in advance.

It takes a year if it's a big elaborate wedding. Figure at least 8 months. Start now.

I found this planning checklist on line http://www.weddinglenox.com/advises/Wedding_planning_scheduling.php.

You can also try their matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/f-membersignup1.php that will match you up with local vendors. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved email from vendors according to my request.

One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.

The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.

lol...I know many girls that seem to start the planning starting around age 5 or 6. :P
Anyways...I would say the sooner, the better. That way you are sure to get any reservations necessary and allow planning of any out-of-towners.
