Many years ago ,,men joined the french foreign legion ,,,,,it was an outpost ,,I believe in a desert area ,,,I do not mean games ,,,I mean the actual fighting force of men ,,,,,,many men joined for
reasons to escape from some crime they committed ,,,,can you help with this ,,,,,or is there another real life foreign legion

yes, it still exists and is basically the only military unit of France that has a will to fight.

The French Foreign Legion changed it's name in the 70's.

It's now called Le Cage Au Follies

Yes it does, however it is no longer a place were convicts can escape there past. They will most likely turn you in, if you have a criminal past. I you want to join go to France and walk into a recruiting office and sign up. they will give a physical test and if you pass you have to surrender you pass port and you wont see it again for 5 years. No you do to have to speak french you Will learn it.

yes they exist.
Wikipedia has good information on them.

Storman Norman used them in the 1st Gulf War.
He is now an honorary member.
