The way I see it, if the drivers would be suspended too, then the crew chiefs and pit crews would learn not to go into areas of the COT Car. Why are they getting of so easy when it was intentionally done. So what if they have to pay money and lose points. Losing the crew chief is nothing, they should have been suspended too.

No question about it...they should have been suspended!!!!! After all, Gordon & Johnson are repeat offenders of cheating and should be penalized accordingly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe if they lose the points cuz they are not racing, they won't win the championship & maybe will learn a lesson!@!!!

NO! if kurt busch can almost run a crew member over and not get suspended you cant suspend drivers based on what the crew chiefs do to the cars, they should just get points docked the crew cheifs get the suspensions because they are the ones who modified the cars not the drivers

No & I personally don't think any driver should recieve a points deduction either unless the modification allows a driver to adjust the car himself. ( then you would know the driver was aware of anything) Drivers don't know what the crew chiefs do most times, they make suggestions to them to maybe make the car better, but Jeff & JJ didn't know what they did this time. Actually I think the owner should take responsibility & take their own action against crew chiefs that choose to "cheat" or modify against NASCAR's rules. Knaus is a repeat offender & that worries me the most, yes it has only been once a year I believe but still, someone needs to put a stop to it. No I am a Biffle fan, not a gordon or JJ fan. I say hammer the owner hard & make him get control of his own team.

If the fines does not work or the suspention of crew cheifs does not work then the next step would be involving either the driver or the full team being suspended.

I agree with greggs111. Not this season of course but starting next Feb. I think any team {including mine} found to be in violation should be sent home. That will get the attention of the owners and sponsors and that will in turn put the pressure on the crews to build compliant cars.

That is totally stupid!!! Yeah its a team effort, BUT the driver has no control over what the engineers and crew do behind his back . . . Jimmie did not build the car so why should he be penalized for something Chad did . . . In that case, Dale Jr should have been suspended too . . . how about thinkin' that one over . . .

NASCAR is hoping that they won't have to suspend the drivers before they can stop the cheating. For now they won't go that far, but if it doesn't stop, driver suspensions will probably have to be used.
I think the penalties could have been a bit harsher, but suspending the drivers is still a bit extreme for now.

If they were, there would have been all hell raised to get Jr., Michael Waltrip, and Kurt Busch suspended too. No other driver has been suspended, so Gordon and Johnson shouldn't be either.

No, I didn't feel that. Their are fans out there who purchased tickets to these upcoming races and some want to see Gordon and Johnson, and suspending them would cause a huge conflict between their fans and NASCAR.

If you bought tickets to a race to see your favorite driver, and then find out he's been suspended and won't be attending the race, how would that make you feel?

It wouldn't really be fair to the driver, but it sure would make the crew make sure the car is legal. I'm sure if they started doing that cheating would practically disappear.
