I have been placed on a 50 mg daily dosage of Abilify and on 300 mg daily dosage of deseryl, I am a diabetic and was told that I have no other medications that I can take without affecting my blood sugar, my Dr has made several references to proceeding to ECT treatment so I have lied and told him my medication is working when it is not, do I have any other options??

Tell your doctor your medication isn't working and you don't want ECT. If your doctor says there are no other options, tell them you want a second opinion.

About that other person who said not to eat wheat products; my wife has been a dietitian for a mental hospital for 25 years and we have never heard of anyone with schizophrenia getting better because they stopped eating wheat.

There are many different meds out there and yes they can effect your blood sugar but you should still be able to regulate it. If abilify does not help, then try something else.

I would tell you to get a second opinion. see what another doctor would say about this. if you have to get a third or forth opinion, then go for it.

Perhaps you could try some dietary changes-----
like stop eating wheat products. I have heard of
dramatic positive changes when schizo. patients
eliminated wheat from their diets.
