When they start showing an interest. My oldest was 19 months when she was daytime potty trained (just didn't have a big enough bladder for nighttime for awhile). My boys were both a little over 3 years old. Unless they're ready, though, it won't happen. I tried and tried to get my middle son to use the potty but it was a no go so I gave up. Exactly one week after his 3rd birthday he came up and said, "Hey, I want to wear boxers to bed like Daddy." I said, "Hey, stop peeing in your pants then." That was the last time he ever peed in his pants!

I would say around 2-3 years. It definitely depends on the child. I went to medical school and the child's brain has to connect to another part of the brain before the child will understand potty training. When you see a child that is potty train really early and young, majority of the time the child has been forced or disciplined for using the bathroom on their selves. Never force a child to potty train, make it fun and than the child will learn quicker.

my daughter is only 14 months. i know she's not ready yet. but i did already buy her a potty, just so she'll start to think about it, and get comfortable with it. for right now she just sits on it, fully clothed, while i do my hair and stuff. i know there is no point in actually trying to get her to use it until she pretty much tells me she is. she just points now. i'm hoping this way we will start potty training by 18-24 months and hopefully have her trained before 2 1/2.

Usually around 2 years. But it does depend on the child. Girls are usually quicker than boys. My daughter was completely trained at 18 months. Let them let you know. I bought a potty that had a flushing sound and that just amazed her and she just took to it. She would sit on it for 30 mins. at a time reading her magazines, I would say are you done, she would say, "I not done yet". It was so cute. My son on the other hand would have nothing to do with it at all. Good Luck

I put my kids on the toilet every morning (no pressure) whether they did something or not around 2 1/2 years old. Once they learned to let their muscles relax, I started putting them on the toilet more frequently. They were potty trained in a few months.
One huge tip. I didn't use pull-ups. Once they could tell me they had to go, I used underwear for one whole weekend. My daughter only went once in them. It felt so icky that she didn't want that to happen again. A pull-up is too absorbent and no better than a diaper (a waste of money).

Well I just bought my 15 month old a potty b/c I heard it takes boys longer so i thought I might go ahead and introduce him to the potty now.....so he gets used to it!! I would say the average can be from 18-24 months....it depends on when you want to start it!

My oldest took 11/2 years to completely potty train (she was stubborn) my youngest did it herself in a week. She was done before she was 2. There are lots of books out there, but truthfully go by your child. If their dry at nap, bed time....(holding it until they wake) wanting diapers off because they are wet or soiled, showing interest...try it...let them sit on the big potty or on a potty chair. Good Luck

i would start at the time when they seem to start comprehending things, when they know who you are, and when they have SOME hand eye coordination...
