You have to pull up the state pages then go to unemployment. You can collect unemployment for yourself or you can claim FMLA if you have a family member that you are taking care of you. My husband took off and got payed for taking care of me. On FMLA you get 12 weeks as long as you have been at your current job for at least 1 year. You can take it all at one time or use a little at a time. Your HR should know about this because most employees have a paper that needs to be signed by the Dr. then you send it in to the state.
Unemployment you can get for being layed of all the way to quiting if you had a illegible an sewer. But they go back like 3 quarters and you pay goes on that. On the web site it will show you what quarter you will be in and how much you get.

Good luck.

Edit later: young granny is really confused about what FMLA is. It's a law that allows you an unpaid leave from your job to take care of a family member, and has nothing to do with unemployment, or with any money being paid to you.
