I think that abortion is horrible, because most of the time it's because some kids couldnt wait long enough to put a condem on, and now they dont want to pay the consequences. I think this is what people initially think when they hear the word abortion. But the thing is, there are different cases, where there are different circumstances. For instance, sometimes the baby is horribly deformed, and they can tell that it's not going to live, even before it's born. From that point there is nothing to lose, except that the mother could be put in danger. Should we endanger the mother for a baby who wont live 5 minutes out of the womb?
Another situation which is very personal to me, is rape. My sister was raped when she went to new york for new years eve this past year. She got pregnant from this rape while she was on several medications, and at the time she was also not mentally stable. (she had been diagnosed with a mental disorder, hence the medications). Because of her mental state, we were not sure if she could handle the 9 month pregnancy. Not only that, but the medications she was on, and that she had continued taking for weeks after the rape, (she didnt know she was pregnant yet), made it most likely that the baby would be seriously deformed or not even live. Because of this, my sister had an abortion. It was hard on our whole family, but dont you think it was the right choice?
In some cases, you have to choose between the life of the baby, and the life of the mother, and the baby doesnt even have a chance of life. If we ban abortion to all cases, we'll be killing women in an effort to save a baby that might as well already be dead, then there would have been 2 deaths, when there could have been one.
Personally, i think you should have to go to court for an abortion. Cases like the one i first mentioned, where a couple kids were just irresponsible, will be denied an abortion like they should. But that will still leave the option open for people who REALLY need it.

The key words you used are "To me." If you don't want to have an abortion, don't have one, but don't take away other people's right to choose. Other people don't consider having an abortion as killing a baby.
The bible does say not to murder, but it is filled with stories of god ordering his people to commit genocide(Numbers 31 etc..) And remember he murdered everything on the planet except the drunkard Noah, his family, and two of every living thing (STD's included I assume), and seven of some.
Response to details:
So think of all the sperm that could have potentially made a child that didn't have a chance. Would you outlaw masturbation too?
Many women have abortions because they know that they will not be able to properly provide for the child if they have it. When you are miserable because you are impoverished and cannot even support yourself, why would you bring a child into the world to join in your misery when there are alternatives?
The first alternative should be contraceptives, but many theists consider that to be against their religion(And even go to Africa and preach the sinfulness of condom use.). I am not for abortion, I am just against there being unwanted children.
And no, adoption does not solve the issue, if it did then there wouldn't be millions of unwanted children living in poverty across the globe.

No it shouldn't. I would not chose an abortion for myself, but I am glad that I have the option. Abortion happens every day whether it is legal or not. Desperate young women will always be terminating their pregnancies, and I would rather them have the chance to do so as safely as possible.

Yes....abortion should be illegal. I believe that the person who is wanting the abortion should accept their responsibility. It's not the child's fault that they were irresponsible. And yes it is considered to be murder!
Additionally, to add on Nandina's comment....Yes it was a lot of killing in the bible. Did you read enough to understand why? If not let me enlighten you! The reason why there were a lot of killings is because of rebellion (usually lead by demonic spirits) and the lack of a relationship with God. There's a lot of killing going on now...so??
Think about this......what if your mother aborted you??

Abortion is Big business, it brings in billions every year and the love of money is the reason why they use so much deception. Those that claim to be Pro-choice are actually Pro-abort. They make no attempt to calm the mother's fears by doing things like help provide for the baby's needs nor any of the mother's needs if she desires to keep her baby. These babies are alive with a beating heart even before the mother knows that she is pregnant. Ending that life is murder.

Killing babies before or after they are born IS murder. If you want that baby/pregnancy, you are thrilled and you KNOW it is a separate life and is growing and becoming mature enough to be born..., and how can you NOT know that if it is a pregnancy your don't want?
Abortion IS murder in the pre-meditated 1st degree!! It is a sin and it MUST be repented for and allow that grief to surface and have it's course or the mother will NEVER be free from all that grief and guilt.
Legalities have little to do with our emotional and spiritual life! It's wrong and everything in us KNOWS that!

I am glad that the bible doesn't make laws or nothing would get done. There are several different interpretations of the same thing because often times there are contradictions.
Whatever is in a woman IS the woman, so if she decided to not carry a pregnancy, it is her choice. If we made abortion illegal in the US, you'd have the wealthy going to different countries and the poor doing whatever they have to - coat hangers anyone? Making abortion illegal won't stop it, just cause the death of women who do it a different way. It is their body, no one should make them do something with it they don't want to. I see forced pregnancy no different than rape.

Who cares about the bible, it's about all the birth control methods available.
This is 2007, who is stupid enough to believe in "oops!" any longer. Most women that want an abortion, got pregnant on purpose and when the pregnancy didn't produce the effects she wanted, then she wants to get rid of it.
If she was a raped, prove it in court and the court will decide.
Why should abortion be legal???? Use birth control!!!!!
A pregnancy is not a fair way to catch a husband, WAKE UP!

well of course it's infanticide...abortion will never go away in this country so the simple solution is to stop the government funding and subsidizing of the abortion racket....this is where the stem cell argument comes in...tax payers pay for the abortions then those same tax payers pay for the stem cell research from the same abortions they paid for....companies/labs then donate millions to democrats and left wingers who then again raise taxes and support more abortion and the government endorsement of murder of the unborn.
thanks for providing those pictures. quite nice to see little pieces of baby arms and legs juxtaposed on a quarter or dime....because those little babies were just a 'choice' which it is..a choice to murder your unborn child because you were too stupid to keep your legs closed or use birth control.
to the atheist moron below: you're mistaken that's called an accident. not an abortion. the willfull destruction of the human embryo. but thanks for your ignorance.

I think a woman should have a choice. I do not feel abortion is an appropriate form of birth control however there are circumstances that force me to say that it should be legal.
EDIT: I am thinking of instances such as rape, incest, a woman's life being in danger. Unless anyone has been in these situations I do not feel they have the right to decide for the woman who has been.
