You want it dry and clear of products. You want to comb thru to remove all tangles or it will not be pleasant when you pull it thru the cap... Brush it towards the back help to keep it from falling out while you put cap on and adjust it.

I think your suppose to pull it all back. If you style it, your not going to be highlighting all of your hair in the right places. Thats why it has all those holes in it so once your done, you can style your hair and still have the highlight in every spot, hence the millions of hole in the cap. Try foil, its alot easier.

the cap pulls hair and doesnt get close enuf to roots. i would style hair then have some one paintbrush it on highlights but the tip is not to go to the roots to the scalp .you cna put it on a comb and comb it thru too where ya want it. my best friend owns a salon in manhattan. http://www.salonbuilder.com/website/156630/default.asp

brush it all back! so when your pulling hair through the cap it flows easily.
