Because they do not understand how their gospel is different and because they reject any point of the Bible that contradicts their ever-changing doctrine.
Edit: Kerry- that angel was not telling another gospel or even new information. He was reiterating what Christ had told the apostles before the ascension. Now, Mormonism is a completely different gospel. It teaches that everyone (almost) goes to heaven- the Bible says only those who trust Christ as Savior on this earth do. It teaches that temple ordinances- that have nothing to do with the worship in OT times, are needed to live in God's presence. I could go on, but time is limited.

In the second chapter of Paul's second epistle to the Thessalonians, we read that a general apostasy will occur before Jesus' much anticipated Second Coming. This means that the Gospel would be lost from the earth.
In the fourteenth chapter of the Revelation of St. John the Beloved, the writer notes "another angel fly from the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on earth." Why would God waste an angel's time sending him to restore the Gospel, if the Gospel were still on the earth? Mormons believe that John was speaking of Moroni who showed Joseph Smith Jr were the Golden Plates were hidden, from which the Book of Mormon was translated.

Actually, imasis is incorrect. It is precisely BECAUSE of a scripture in the Bible that was fulfilled, predicting that an angel would come and proclaim the everlasting Gospel that Mormons believe in the Restoration of the Gospel.
See Revelations 14:6-7
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
Mormons believe that this verse was fulfilled with the arrival of Moroni, who "proclaimed the everlasting Gospel to this dispensation.

Moroni was once a prophet in mortality, just like Moses, Abaraham, and Elijah. If you read Galations 2:8 again, you'll notice that it includes mortals (the "we" referred to) as well as angels, and it's saying that those who try to preach anything different than God's word (the "gospel") are accursed, not that angels are automatically accursed for being messengers (as was Moroni). After all, we read of times in the Bible of angels serving as messengers (Gabriel announced to both Zacharias of the coming of his son John the Baptist and to Mary of the coming of Jesus; a angel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepards; there was an angel at the tomb of Jesus after His resurrection; an angel appeared to Adam and explained to him about what the purpose of animal sacrifices was for). Even Revelation refers to angels doing God's work.
All of those (and others in the Bible that I haven't mentioned) are accepted by Christians as being legitimate works of God, and all of them involve angels doing God's work, including angels doing some of the things Mormons believe were done by Moroni.

Basically because we believe that Moroni was preaching the same gospel that Jesus, Peter, Paul, John, and all the other prophets and apostles taught. We believe that after the persecution and deaths of the apostles that Jesus had left in charge the fulness of the gospel was lost. Through revelations from Jesus and visitations from angels to the prophet Joseph Smith the gospel was restored.
Notice that in Galations it doesn't say that all visitations from angels are of the devil.

Moroni wasan't preaching another gospel; in fact, he wasn't preaching at all. He was simply enabling the bringing forth of the Book of Mormon as a means of restoring the true gospel of Christ.
I object to all those who have said that we are born into it, brainwashed, or converted without reading the Bible. I was an evangelical Christian (born again aged 14) and Vicar's wife when I joined the LDS church. Prior to that I had studied it - from an anti point of view - for five years, including being area director of an anti-cult group. I know my Bible, and I know the arguments against Mormonism, but once you start to look past the rumours and lies it is impossible to deny the truth of it.
The LDS church is indeed Christ's true church upon the earth, whether you like it or not. Spurious arguments like this do not change that.

Most mormons are either BiC (Born in the Covenant), or converted without ever having studied the bible, much less memorize any verses, so the rationale you give is irrelevant. Even if this quote is 'justifiable', it would not result in the DE-conversion of the saints.
Also be aware that the beginnings of Mormonism occurred during a time of religious upheaval (the one part of Mormon history that is correct), and those early members were aware of this verse in the 1830s. There were also plenty of other individuals who claimed heavenly visitors, but Smith got lucky and inherited an entire congregation from Sidney Rigdon. There were no shortages of "prophets" during that time, including many of the first mormon members.

Most Mormons do not know what the LDS church truly believes or teaches. For most people who call themselves Mormons it is out of ignorance.
