100k and 100 points has become the standard penalty for CoT infractions. NASCAR really can't consider intent when coming up with penalties because it opens up a large gray area.
Edit: JGO 24 On Fire, Junior COULDN'T be parked from qualifying. They caught the infraction during pre-race inspection! Qualifying had already taken place!

the only thing that hasnt been fair about penalties this year is the kurt busch got the same penalty as gordon, johnson, and jr. Busch could have killed someone, but he got the same penalty as the hendricks drivers who broke a rule that didnt exist until after they modified their fenders. Busch should be the one your complaining about. The Hendrick's crews may have intentionally modified the cars, but because nascars rule book leaves a lot of "gray areas", they thougth they were working within nthe rules, whereas jr's infraction was a black an white infraction of the rules written on the books, and the hendricks drivers were grounded for practice, and they were forced to start at the back of the pack , jr wasnt, that makes their penalities worse.

The brackets on Jr. cars were unintentional for sure. Even NASCAR's itself admitted they believe that. Nobody in NASCAR including the officials ever truly believed those brackets were put there to cheat. It was a simple mistake and has been proven so over and over again. But it was still illegal and the punishment fit. People that say it was intentional apparently are smarter than NASCAR officials, and I find that hard to believe.
The punishment for the #24 and #48 teams really doesn't matter because they both are going to make the chase. If they want to start punishing teams for infractions-cheating or what ever you want to call it, they need to take the points away at the start of the chase and this goes for Jr. as well, that will cut down on these so called cheating incidents quickly.

No Jeff and Jimmie were given a more harsh punishment. They had to start at the back of the field, while Jr. got to start 21st.

If you really believe that Jr.'s was unintentional, you are delusional sweetheart. They knew about it, they just didn't fess up like Gordon and Johnson's crew did. Racing is about having the advantage over another. That's what Jr.'s crew was trying to do, and that's what Gordon and Johnson's crew was trying to do. Intentional or not, the penalty was consistent which is what NASCAR wants. But, if you are so steadfast on Gordon and Johnson recieving harsher penalties than Jr., rest assured they did. They didn't get to practice or qualify Friday for the Sonoma race and had to start in the back. Jr. was allowed to keep his qualifying position at the start of the race and got in the practice time.

although gordon and johnson broke no existing rules (nascar made up the rule when they showed up with their cars)they where the first ever teams not to be allowed to qualify its not like they where using un-approved parts or fuel additives like the other drivers who have been in trouble this year
this is a bogus penalty from a bogus orginization
and for all the people who keep saying jr. was caught after quailifying that means he went through inspection's and then put the brackets on trying to hide them they could have made him start at the back of the pack but that would hurt their cash cow

If I remember right, No one ever proved that Dale Jr's was truthfully unintentional. I mean, they said they didn't mean to.. but doesn't everyone say that when their caught doing something wrong!?
