My son is taking his test next week and the car that he's most used to driving, and parallel parking, has a small crack in the windshield.

Usually it's okay, if it doesn't cross over into driver's side. Then you could be ticketed for obstruction to vision.

Call the DOT, if the crack is small and does not interfere with vision of the driver, I dont think it will matter.

When I took my drivers test, the horn did not work and the instructor did not care and passed me and I am from Wisconsin.

Don't know Wisconsin, but a crack in the windshield will fail inspection in most places.

It depends on the size and the location of the crack, if the car will pass inspection then it's ok
