Will a treadmill with an electrical requirement of 120 VAC 50-60hz use up a significant amount of electricity more then a machines with the same requirements but without a motor? Or will it use up the same amount of elec. then say a game console.

I want to know if using 2-4 times/week will jack up the electric bill.

Anytime you have an electric motor involved, it will use up some electricity. But the amount it's used in a treadmill will only make a small dent in your bill.

The power used is measured in watts (or voltage times amps). To compare different devices just check the wattage. 100 watts is a bright light bulb. Electric motors can use like 1500 watts, so comparing them is a good idea.

To make an estimate, assume you have a 1000 watt unit. Utilities charge by the kilowatt-hour. 1000 watt is a kilowatt. If you use the treadmill for 10 hours a month, at $.10 a kilowatt hour, that would be about $1 for a months usage.
