bed and then i would feel like my heart skipped a beat or something. then i would start breathing funny... like i couldn't get a deep enough breath. i would also start feeling dizzy and sick to my stomach. the feeling would pass after a while but then i couldn't sleep because i was scared it would happen again.

My husband works nights and I get the same feelings every so often and it is worse when you are alone and have no distractions. I know that this is a panic or anxiety attack because I have dealt with this my whole life and I do not want meds as it has gotten better through the years-it was bad when i was younger. To get over this quickly i will go downstairs, splash some water on my face and get some fresh air-the coolness on the face is a natural relaxer-then i generally turn on HAPPY tv-70's show, friends is great! and turn on the internet for a little while. Within 20 min i am able to go to bed. i know this can be scary, but if you learn how to "turn it off" it will be lots better-you will feel more in control. You won't be so scared of it happening because if it does you know how to fix it.

Yep it sounds like a panic attack, I'd go to the doctors before it happens again, because people develop all sorts of conditions like agraphobia from panic attacks & worrying when 1 will next come can actually bring one on.. Maybe you're under stress right now, so you should go the doctors & they'll decide what's best.. I've had it before & it's horrible but nothing bad can happen from them, it just feels that way xxx

It could be a panic attack -- they affect different people in slightly different ways.

It may also be PVC's -- premature ventricular contractions -- that then cause you to feel anxiety and cause the other symptoms.

I've had both -- they are scary, but not harmful. Are you under a lot of stress? Either one can be caused by that.

a panic attack or anxiety attack feels like that but there is usually something psychological that proceeds them. for me its usually place that i feel lost or trapped in -- overcrowded malls are very popular places for attacks.

it sounds like it might be something else if you aren't feeling any pyschological discomfort.
