sterio problem?

my stock sterio has a glitching problem. when you turn the volume all the way up it starts to glitch as if its draining all the power from the car. i only have (2) 100 watts door speakers installed. and the sterio dies whenever i turn on the head lights. any idea what this may be?

Both problems have the same cause: the wire you're using for ground is actually an illumination wire. Basically the deck is grounding through your light bulbs. This is a very poor ground, so when you turn the volume up you get a voltage drop that makes the head unit malfunction. Also, when you turn on the lights, voltage arrives on that wire and there's no ground at all; therefore the deck shuts off.

Re-wire your ground and your problems should be solved.
